About the adventure

You're not thieves. You're adventurers, hired to do one thing: get into Vellithra's Curios, a warded magic shop in the middle of Baldur's Gate's busiest district, and steal some magical Lantern, in broad daylight... Yeah not the greatest of chances. How you get in is up to you. Talk your way past the owner, swap the lantern for a decoy mid-conversation, or take the ward apart yourself. Its up to you. Though if those alarms go off, you better run. This oneshot is a roleplay heavy but action-packed heist, where every action has a chain reaction. You get to Sprint across rooftops, throw spells and anything else you can get your hands on and more. At every major turn, can find urself in areas where you can utilise the environment to your advantage, from the narrow alley packed with market stalls, to the open construction site with scaffolding up to the rooftops that you can destroy holding back your pursuers. Every choice opens different ways to use what your character can actually do, and I'm adjudicating your ideas on the fly, not steering you toward one "correct" solution. If you can describe it and it's plausible, we'll find out if it works.

About me

Hi, I'm Davi. I'm currently a university student from the UK and an unapologetic fantasy nerd. I started running D&D when I was eleven after falling in love with fantasy worlds where ordinary people could become legends. What began as running games for friends somehow turned into a huge part of my life. Seven years later, I still spend most days thinking about stories, worldbuilding, and the next adventure. Outside of tabletop games, you'll usually find me buried in fantasy novels, sketching out new ideas for settings, or disappearing down some obscure bit of lore that absolutely didn't need three hours of research. I'm also a player whenever I get the chance. I love being on both sides of the screen, and some of my favourite memories come from sitting at someone else's table and getting completely swept up in their world. More than anything, I enjoy meeting people through this hobby. Some of my closest friendships started because a group of strangers decided to roll some dice together. When I'm not studying or running games, I'm usually building something new, whether that's a homebrew system, a setting, a one-shot, or a completely unnecessary spreadsheet that seemed like a good idea at the time.

Character creation

Creating your character

You'll be playing one of four pre-built level 5 characters, where you can play them however you like. No character building required, just show up and pick who you want to be for three hours.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a Discord account and access to D&D Beyond. I'll send character sheets and a short rundown of your pregen before the session, but there's nothing required beyond that; we'll cover the basics in the first ten minutes.

What Davi brings to the table

This is built to move fast and stay cinematic, with present-tense narration, quick cuts between characters during the chase, and real consequences for the route you pick. Combat is short and sharp when it happens, not a grind. I'd rather you spend the session making decisions than watching numbers go down. This session runs on your choices working, not on you guessing what I had planned.

Homebrew rules

Standard 2024 rules, no major changes. During the chase specifically, expect on-the-spot rulings for creative or improvised uses of spells and abilities, if it's a reasonable idea, I'll find a way to resolve it fast rather than telling you no.

How Davi creates a safe table
