About the adventure
This is a game of many different types of horror. We will be exploring the many Domains of Dread and the fantastical landscapes and creatures that dwell there. Each Domain also have their very own style of horror from psychological, to slasher style, to paranormal. The characters will find themselves working any way that they can to escape to be back home, wherever that may be! This campaign will last as long as it takes to finish, but more than likely around 15th level. All are welcome to enjoy this story. This will be a weekly campaign, set on Thursday evenings at 9:00p.m.EST

About me
I absolutely love being a DM, online or in person. You can call me Randy, as it's easier and it's my name! I was forced into it by my friends wanting to play D&D, but no one wanting to run the games. I took the mantle and enjoy it a lot. I'm a storyteller above anything else. I've ran a few one shots and short campaigns. I wanted to get into running online games and teaching others how to play. I love the creativity, teamwork, storytelling, and fun over everything else. Combat is fun, but it isn't the whole game. Roleplaying is a big part, but I never force anyone to roleplay if they feel shy. Everyone who wishes to join one of my games will be sent a link to my Discord, which is called the Clerical Bard D&D Channel. It's a great place for the community of TTRPGers, as we branch from Dungeons and Dragons to many other systems!! And we love having new people join into our warm and welcoming channel! My job is to make sure that everyone has a great time and builds friendships!!!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Characters will start at level 1, using Standard Array or Point Buy!! We will be using the 2024 or 5.5e Dungeons and Dragons rules! Your character can come from any world that is used in the system, (Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Eberron) I also will need some sort of backstory, as your character could have done some evil or heinous act in order to get the attention of the Dark Powers!! So definitely put some evil act in your backstory!!! We will be using DnDBeyond for all character creation and gameplay, as well as the AboveVTT and Discord. You can have the character created before our Session 0, or before session 1! Just remember that you will be a part of a team, and it is good to talk with teammates to help make the team gel together well!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Make sure to have accounts for Discord, DnDBeyond, and to have the AboveVTT plugin for Chrome or Firefox... Once you join this campaign, I'll message you here on Startplaying to send you the link to my Discord channel! From there, we'll get everything situated for your character! We'll get your stats rolled up, I'll send you a link to join the DnDBeyond campaign and ofcourse, I'll be more than happy to bounce ideas off of in creating your character!!
What The Clerical Bard brings to the table
I provide the Bones of a story that you will help fill out for all of us! I also provide imagination, maps, ambiance, and all of the content needed for our campaign. I've been doing this for quite awhile, so I have a bunch of knowledge and expertise in this system...and I love to teach people, so new players are definitely welcome!!
Homebrew rules
In later levels, we use "perfect crits" on critical hits! I also have a fun table to Critical Fails and Critical Successes! Those are usually very fun and keep the players engaged in what's happening! I treat healing potions differently also- during battle, if you us an action to take a healing potion, you get the full amount. If you use a bonus action for the healing potion, you have to roll the dice. If you feed a healing potion to someone as an action, you have to roll the dice. If you use a healing potion outside of battle, you get the full amount.
