About the adventure

Welcome to the Edge of the World The sun hasn’t risen over the frozen tundra in over two years. Trapped in a magical, never-ending winter, the communities of Icewind Dale are clinging to survival by a thread. Beneath the howling blizzards and shifting glaciers lie ancient secrets, dark magic, and a sinister curse waiting to be broken. In The Frosty Fates, a band of untested heroes will step out of the cold and into a destiny that could either save the realm or bury it forever. Will you answer the call, or let the frost settle? This campaign is custom-built for brand-new players who are ready to learn Dungeons & Dragons! If you’ve never rolled a twenty-sided die, don’t know a spell slot from a saving throw, or have only ever watched people play online, you are exactly who belongs at this table. I am incredibly excited to teach you the ropes, guide you through character creation, and help you master the game in a welcoming, patient, and zero-judgment environment. No prior experience or rulebook reading required—just bring your imagination! What to Expect at the Table The Setting: A breathtaking, atmospheric world of beautiful but dangerous frozen landscapes, cozy tavern sanctuaries, and mysterious ice caverns. The Theme: Survival, heroic destiny, and overcoming impossible odds through teamwork and clever thinking. The Playstyle: High-stakes adventure with a spine-chilling twist. I love creating cinematic, suspenseful "life-or-death" moments where your choices truly matter and the danger feels real. But don't worry—while the monsters might be scary, I am always rooting for you to be the heroes. We will balance nail-biting excitement with plenty of laughs, heroic victories, and collaborative storytelling. Grab your winter cloaks and ready your weapons. Your frosty fate awaits!

About me

I’ve been a forever DM of my friend group for the last ten years. I’m a high school English teacher looking to supplement my pay over the summer. I love the camaraderie and teamwork aspect of Dungeons and Dragons, meeting new people, and especially helping new players find a love of the game. I often like to create homebrew worlds with lots of mystery, suspense, drama, and political intrigue. Whether this is your very first Dungeons and Dragons campaign or your 100th, I’m hoping to create an enjoyable experience for you and the rest of your party. I’m currently an English teacher--I’ve previously taught 11th Grade English and am hoping to slide down to 7th or 8th grade English next school year! I have two tuxedo kittens, Oreo and Kevin, and my favorite guilty pleasure is binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy over the summer.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen on dndbeyond's website. I can help guide you through character creation in the days leading up to Session Zero, and make any finalizations regarding characters and backstory during that Session Zero. You can use Point Buy or roll for stats - I can explain both ways if needed.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a discord account and a dndbeyond account. All sessions will use dndbeyond's VTT for maps and rolling.

What Hannah Grover (katwenty) brings to the table

I have access to The Player's Handbook for 2014 rules and also a set of the 2024 rules as well. I am definitely going to immerse you in a wintry and gritty survival game full of near-death experiences and excitement for your characters. I will be ensuring that everyone is aware of the upcoming sessions and any preparations that need to be done by the players beforehand. I will be ensuring that boundaries are not crossed and that this remains a safe and healthy environment. I will do my best to ensure that everyone has time and space to speak and to play their characters as they wish to.

Safety

How Hannah Grover (katwenty) creates a safe table

I will be sending a link to a google form that will ask about what boundaries and triggers you may have so that we can keep it a safe environment for everyone. We will also have a rule in place that you can just DM me if I missed something or there is an issue that needs to be raised before we go further with play. I want everyone to feel safe and welcome at my table.
