About the adventure

This campaign will be an introduction to the Cyberpunk Red ttrpg. It will take roughly 3-4 sessions with an introductory session 0. New players looking to try the system for the first time are encourage to join. I'll ease you into the world of Night City in the time of the red, while keeping up that classic cyberpunk tension and gloom. This game will take place in the standard Night City described in the Cyberpunk Red Core rulebook. It's a crowded city in CA suffering from the aftereffects of the brutal fourth Corporate War. Sterile corporate espionage unfolds above squalid, crime consumed streets. Everyone is armed and armored, and most people still breathing got this far because they shot first and asked questions later. Your party will be a crew of Edgerunners. A scrupulous band of mercenaries, willing to do some dirty work in order to pay next months rent. You'll be new to the city, learning the particulars of Night City alongside your characters. After a gig in LA went south, the crew has had to skip town and stick together in the brutal ecosystem of Night City. In Session 0 I will spend a few hours teaching you the system and helping you make your characters. Over the next few sessions We'll play through a short adventure with a couple gigs and a short overarching plot.

About me

I'm a Tabletop RPG enthusiast! I've been GM-ing(poorly) for around 6 years, and actually being a good GM for 3! I love all things Fantasy and some things sci-fi. I've played a lot of D&D 5E, and my most recent special interest is the Cyberpunk Red TTRPG. I'm also a complicated boardgame superfan! So I love to learn all the rules details of an RPG but I'm always a fan of creative improvisation. I've been doing comedic improv for 7 years, through highschool and college. I have a degree in Interactive Media and Game Development from Worcester Polytechnic institute(With a concentration in Writing!) As part of my capstone project, I was the producer and lead writer for a Renaissance themed campaign setting for D&D5E. I'd be happy to send you a copy of the book if you'd like! Telling interactive stories with a group of fun people is my passion. I think that ttrpgs are one of the best forms of collaborative storytelling out there! I love to make fun worlds and stories, and I love bringing them to life! I'll always try and tell you "Yes, and" instead of "no" but I always know where to draw the line. If you're interested, then I'd love to game with you!

Character creation

Creating your character

I encourage you to take a look at the each Role's page on P.29 of the Core Rulebook and think about which Role you want to play during this starter campaign. I'll be available to discuss all character ideas up to our session 0. During the session 0 I will work with all of you to go through Cyberpunk Red's character creation system so you can get a good grasp on how it, and the rest of the system works. If you're really gung-ho and want to make a character before Session 0 that is totally fine! Just let me know, and be aware that the session 0 might be a little less active for you as I bring the rest of the party up to speed.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A Discord account is mandatory, everything else is optional. I'll be running the game on Talespire, but I will be sharing my screen over discord so a talespire account/guest pass is optional. I'll have minis for players to choose from, but if you want direct control of your mini you'll need a talspire account of some form. I only have one prepaid talespire seat available. A copy of the Cyberpunk Red Core rule book is recommended for all new players. If you can't get access to one let me know over discord and I can share sections of it with you for reference.

What QXander brings to the table

My GM style is very live acted and improv based. I love a character voice to help differentiate between NPCs. My goal with GM-ing overall is to provide fun puzzles for the players to solve, and interesting choices for their characters to make. Those puzzles can take the form of tactical combat, tricky NPC interactions, or overall threatening situations. I am a Rules as Written GM, I will bend the interpretation of those rules at times, but I will always fall back to the Core rules to make my decisions. My hope is that my sessions feel like a Game we are all playing, and such the game must have structure and conflict, which I will provide in full!

Homebrew rules

No Homebrew for ya'll yet! Most of the hombrew rules I've cooked up wont be applying to this campaign due to its introductory nature. That being said, if you want to make a tech character and give them the invention expertise you absolutely may! As Invention is a covered mechanic in the game I don't count it as homebrewing.

Safety

How QXander creates a safe table

In Session 0 I will be going over all of the content warnings for the campaign, and explaining the common themes and outcomes of the Cyberpunk world. I will send out a consent checklist to get a good idea of what everyone is comfortable with and adjust the campaign to keep everyone comfortable and safe. I don't usually do aftercare, but I encourage you to reach out if anything I've included in a campaign/session makes you feel uncomfortable. I will always listen and adapt!
