About the adventure
For centuries, the dragons of Faerun have ruled the skies as living myths - ancient, powerful and untouchable. But now they are disappearing. Not slain in glorious battle, not hunted for treasure, simply...gone. Lairs once feared now sit silent and abandoned. Across the sword coast strange omens spread: Crimson stars streaking through the night, scorched ruins with no survivors and nightmares of enormous wings swallowing fire itself. At the same time ordinary people begin experiencing impossible changes - vivid dreams of flying above storm clouds, strange elemental powers awakening within them and the unsettling feeling something ancient is watching from beyond the skies. You are one of the chosen, bound by fate to a certain entity companion that you will forge a deep and evolving bond that is central to the story. This entity is not a mount or pet - it is a fully realized character with its own personality, goals, fears and growth. As the campaign progresses your companion grows alongside you, your connection strengthens both mechanically and narratively and your choices directly shape who your companion becomes. Together you will uncover a hidden struggle that threatens not only dragonkind but the soul of Faerun itself. This is a campaign about transformation, mystery and legacy. Explore a living, grounded version of Faerun where villages, noble houses, hidden cults and forgotten ruins all react to unfolding events. Expect a balance of grounded adventure and mythic high fantasy with deep character bonds, meaningful moral choices, political intrigue and epic cinematic moments. Whether you're drawn to emotional story telling, dragons or the thrill of ordinary heroes becoming something far greater, Ashes of the First Flame offers a rich, long-term story where your actions and your bond will leave a lasting mark on the world.

About me
Hi I'm Louis! My earliest memories of playing TTRPG's was with Dark Imperium back in 2006 and with the first session I was hooked, for years onwards I would play in various systems of any games I could join. I have dabbled in various systems such as Cyberpunk, Dark Imperium, Mutants and Masterminds, Dune Imperium and others! But through all these experience through the years I never quite found what I was looking for as a player, so that is when I decided to try and GM for the first time, I have run various one shots in different systems before I settled on Dungeons and Dragons to run for a long term campaign which I can say has been still going on to this day years on!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Players can either choose standard point array or roll for stats. We will go over character creation and all that entails in session zero along with other rulings and introductions. I will be running 2024 Dungeons and Dragons and source books that are compatible with it. I am not opposed to homebrew but anything homebrewed is not guaranteed and subject to change.
I fully encourage the party to discuss party compositions if they want.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord and Owlbear Rodeo Accounts are needed. DnDBeyond you can use to make characters but I've always preferred pen and paper. Character backstories are a must!
What Louis brings to the table
I always endeavour to try anything and everything to getting players immersed such as but not limited to voices, ambient music, music that sets the scene, sound effects and visual representations such as maps or images. I always try to stick to RAW (Rules as Written) but in those epic moments I do sway towards ROC (Rule of Cool) so let your creativity go wild! Players should immersion and deep character development, I always try to write in backstories to the main plot and display different paths that players can choose or ignore, player choice is priority. Every group is different so I always adjust things to set the group.

How Louis creates a safe table
I will have a shared document that will provide 'Lines and Veils' this will be accessible to everyone and can be viewed at any time. In session zero I will go over particular topics such as PvP, Dos and Dont's and various rulings. After every session I will open the floor up for any feedback so we can move upwards and onwards!
