About the adventure
-- THE PITCH - As the small island constantly traded between two empires has finally had enough, you find yourselves in a fight to escape and survive the breaking rebellion. This is a great oneshot adventure for anyone who wants to learn the Savage Worlds system and have some heroic fun while doing it! It's also a way to try out one of my games without committing ahead of time. If you have any questions about the game, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll be happy to have a chat! -- FEATURES SHORTLIST -- - A fun, pulpy adventure to save the world - A setting with over 15 years of development that you can still change - Fast, creative combat that rewards clever plans and good tactics - An expansive race list (including centaurs and dragons) -- WHAT TO EXPECT -- We will spend the first 30-45mins walking through character creation and pregame chat, then we will jump into the adventure as the rebellion starts. You'll get to try out basic mechanics, a bit of combat, and possibly a dramatic task or two. At the end we'll have a debrief where you can give any feedback you like. -- WHO AM I -- Hey, I'm Cass. I've been GMing for nearly 20 years, I've been a professional narrator and occasional voice actor for 6 years, and professional cartographer for 5 years. I put a lot of time and effort into providing the smoothest, most reactive experience possible to enahnce your characters, and give you a believable world where you can shine. I tend to do a lot of voices, adjust the setting to work for your story where possible, and run slightly comedic, satirical worlds. My main goal is always to make it easy for you to tell the story you want to tell, and I hope to help you bring your character to life! -- NEW TO SWADE? -- You are welcome to play if you have never played Savage Worlds before, I will be teaching the game as we go and using the VTT to automate slow parts so that it still feels fast. The system has a few big features, so if these excite you this game may be for you: - Spending hero points as a core mechanic - Using any skill to aid in combat, with multiple ways to benefit - Character hinderances, so you get extra feats for having that enemy or secret! - Highly thematic magic users, each with their own backlash effects

About me
Hey folks! I'm Cass, I've been GMing for nearly 20 years and I'm a professional narrator and cartographer. I typically run games leaning more comedic without quite veering into wacky, with an even split of roleplay and combat and an emphasis on exploration and finding creative solutions.

Creating your character
I will walk the group through character creation at the beginning of the session, you will not need to bring a premade character but coming with a concept in mind is great. Character creation is expected to take 30-45 minutes.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players should have downloaded the free Fantasy Grounds Unity client (either on the fantasy grounds website or via steam) and run the "check for updates" button before the session. They should also join the Discord for the adventure. It is strongly advised to start fantasy grounds and connect to the server at least 10 minutes before the game begins, as connecting and downloading campaign files may take a while on slower connections.
What Cass brings to the table
I am focused on bringing you an exciting, dramatic adventure that helps you get into character and lets them really shine. You'll also be able to learn the basics of the system without it being too tutorial-heavy. While there is comedy, the tone is mostly action-adventure while keeping the world fairly grounded. I typically use voices for most NPCs and include music, though that will be disabled if the connection with one or more players makes this an issue.
Homebrew rules
We will be using a number of standard setting rules and homebrewed content, however I have built it as part of a module in the VTT so it should appear indistinguishable from the regular book content for a player perspective. Every feature has been expanded at least a little.

How Cass creates a safe table
-- BEFORE THE GAME -- Before the game and at the start of the game we will go over any hard veto and soft veto content you would not like to see in game. -- DURING THE GAME -- We also have buttons built into the VTT for anonymous red and yellow cards. We will have a short break roughly every 1-1.5 hours. -- AFTER THE GAME -- At the end of the session there will be a debrief where you can air any issues or critiques, give feedback on what you did or didn't enjoy and want to see more or less of, etc. (though you are not obligated to stay for that). -- BAD BEHAVIOUR -- We're all adults and I expect everyone to recognize that making other people uncomfortable or putting your fun at the expense of everyone else's is not acceptable. Crappy behavior will be dealt with through discussion and if needed, removal from the game, possibly without warning.
