About the adventure

Twenty five years ago, the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty ended the conflict between their two nations. Since the end of this conflict, which has come to be called the War of Ash and Light, tensions have been slow to ease between citizens on opposite sides on the continent. The year is now 861, and King Dwendal is dead. His son is set to succeed him officially at his upcoming coronation ceremony in the Dwendalian capital - and it would seem that not every city in the Empire is confident in the inexperienced king. Many nobles seem to be throwing their support behind a different family in line for the throne. Meanwhile in the Kryn Dynasty, a similar breakdown is occurring as many of the local leaders and representatives of the Dynasty begin to question the mental state of an aging Bright Queen. With an arcane illness sweeping through the people of the capital, the Kryn appear to have isolated themselves from their neighbors more than ever before. And while the two largest powers on the continent have begun to slowly deteriorate from within, dark forces have seized the opportunity to enact their sinister machinations… Sagas of Exandria is a level 3-15 campaign set in the Critical Role setting of Exandria following the events of Critical Role campaigns 1-3. About me

ABOUT ME: I’m a 27 year old writer working out of North Carolina. Before that, I used to fix helicopters - but, I’ve found that being a professional GM suits me a lot better. Unfortunately, there’s no creative outlet in helicopter maintenance. I like to think that it's really the extensive theatre and writing backgrounds I cultivated in my youth that draw me here. I enjoy reading, video games, and getting lost in a sea of YouTube recommendations long past my bedtime. I have four brothers, one sibling, and two sisters scattered in various parts of the country. Sometimes, we used to keep in touch by playing World of Warcraft together*. *Please don’t ask me anything about the game, I was 11 and very bad. Please please don’t. I will only disappoint you. ABOUT MY GAMES: I’m a huge gamer, particularly a fan of RPGs, open-worlds(not the AAA gaming studio version of “open world”)/sandboxes, and choices-matter type of gameplay. All of this influences the types of games I build and the stories I help players tell. Rescued the prince but not his lover? When he takes the throne, he’ll seek vengeance. Rescued them both? 100 years of peace. Neither? A war begins. Or perhaps you’ve thought of another way? In essence, I want to have the player respond to the world and the world respond to the player. If any of this sounds like an energy you’d like to have in your GM, reach out to me on Discord to set up a table or to join any open seats in a public table.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will first discuss safety, then talk over game rules and how-to, followed by a short VTT lesson, and finally finishing up with character creation. The creation process is fairly in-depth, so you should walk out with a decent understanding of your character, their skills and stats, and their place in the setting. I do not expect players to come to the table with knowledge of the game beforehand, but its always appreciated. An entire session 0 will be devoted to character creation.
