About the adventure

You begin your adventure in Termaline, a gem mining city in Icewind Dale. A local crier has let everyone know that there is a 50 Gold Piece reward for anyone that can rid the mine of the kobold pack that has taken it over. Throughout this adventure, you'll uncover the secrets of Icewind Dale, and attempt to cure it of its horrifying and unending winter. The only way you know how to begin, is to keep the ten towns of Icewind Dale safe from the inside. However, if the cure to the winter was here, it would have been found... Eventually, you'll have to venture into the bitter and merciless cold. Icewind Dale is comprised of ten towns, all affected by the cold. I will provide more in depth details on each of the towns based on character knowledge and will have general information available in my discord :)

About me

Hi! I'm 26 years old, a whimsy advocate, and parent of the best dog and cat in the world. I have been looking for something I'm really passionate about, and DnD changed my life a couple years ago! I started playing in 2024 and have been playing every week, multiple times a week since then. I have been DMing some campaigns for awhile now, 3 of them being Descent into Avernus and I have run a shorter homebrew campaign as well. I love a good one shot! I run them professionally at my local game shop, and I'm excited to run more on here! Pursuing DMing as a career has been an absolute dream of mine, and I'm doing what I can to make it come true :)

Character creation

Creating your character

Starting level will be 1! If you have any questions, no worries feel free to ask! I have a D&D beyond link with book sharing for you to create characters: https://www.dndbeyond.com/campaigns/join/77485272740419642 I allow any books and if you have any third party stuff just run it by me! I'm ok with a hybrid of 2014 and 2024 on certain things, but you cannot have 2 ASI in character creation. Everyone will be able to get an origin feat! Love this feature of 2024 You can use point buy, standard array, or roll for your stats, roll 4d6 drop the lowest, with a minimum total of 72 points. Anything below 72 will not count toward your number of roll attempts. If you choose to roll, you get three attempts, or you can choose to switch to point buy/standard array if none of the rolls work for you.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need D&D Beyond to create a character! We'll use a discord server for speaking during the game, so you will need a discord account. For foundry you just need to give me your name and I can create a login for the specific game! No account needed.

What Zaphi brings to the table

I use music, animated maps, dynamic lighting, and I do voices! I love rule of cool, and I'm open to suggestions for house rules!

Homebrew rules

Drinking Potions: Drinking potions will only cost a bonus action, however, if you choose to use a full action, you will receive the maximum healing from that potion. Administering Potions: Using an action, you can administer a potion to another person. If you choose to use both your action and bonus action, they will receive maximum healing Healing Spells: We will use the 2024 rules for healing spells. This means that the dice rolled is double what it is in the 2014 rules. Crafting Potions: Common potions will take 2 hours, Uncommon potions will take 3 hours, rare potions will take 5 hours, very rare will take 8 hours. Proficiency in either alchemist's or herbalist's kits will work! Inspiration: Instead of a new roll, inspiration will allow you to automatically succeed a check, hit on an attack roll, save on a spell, or make another character miss on an attack roll. This will not apply for making other characters fail spell saves, though you can use it to give them disadvantage. You can stack up to 3 inspiration, but you can only use one per short rest. Stats: You can use point buy, standard array, or roll for your stats, re-rolling ones. If you choose to roll, you get three attempts, or you can choose to switch to point buy/standard array if none of the rolls work for you. Class and Subclass Changes: Berserker Barbarian: Frenzy will only cause exhaustion if you fail an increasingly difficult constitution save. Clerics: Clerics will be able to choose to add a permanent bonus equal to their wisdom modifier to either arcana or religion. Druids: Druids will be able to choose to add a permanent bonus equal to their wisdom modifier to either arcana or nature. All Spellcasters: Prepared spells can be changed upon a short rest.

Safety

How Zaphi creates a safe table

I have a safety module in foundry that I will take time to explain the mechanics of in depth. All safety requests are anonymous to other players, and the module covers a wide range. I also do stars and wishes at the end of games so that I can see what works and what needs to be tweaked!
