About the adventure

On the southernmost edge of the southernmost isle of the Neomorne Archipelago, a storm is brewing. Three strangers take desperate refuge in a lawless and remote coastal town. In the wake of a brutal nautical war where pirate captains mustered armadas and sold their souls in dark bargains in an attempt to seize control of the archipelago, the last vestiges of great and terrible power slink off to the shadows and lurk just out of sight. Our story opens in Ito Abe Azkenak, a village whose name roughly translates to "the Last Ones Undrowned." The eroded shores of its coastline stare southward at the vast, empty depths of the Ungar Ocean. The ships that sail into this town's harbor carry people who are adrift, for one reason or another. Perhaps they are wanted by the archipelago's new queen for crimes they committed in a bygone age. Perhaps they are hunted by the servants of an occult god (of which there are many, in these parts) because they witnessed the wrong thing at the wrong time. Perhaps they crossed a powerful pirate captain and seek somewhere to hide from their lackeys' wrath. Perhaps they simply want some peace and quiet. Danger and conspiracy await these travelers in Ito Abe Azkenak and the rustling jungles beyond. And that danger will make itself known... when lightning strikes midnight.

About me

Hi! I'm a Dungeon Master in my free time (during the day I'm an acting major at college in LA). I run several weekly D&D home games with different groups of players and I'm used to adapting to various genres and tones. In life, I genuinely don't think anything has as much power to bring people together as storytelling. I love meeting new people and learning what they want from their characters and their narratives. (And yes, I promise I'll read your backstory.)

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will create level 6 characters on D&D Beyond before the session and give them a reason to flee to Ito Abe Azkenak. Once I get an idea of their backstory, I may send them a few secrets over Discord that their character would know about the setting.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The game will be played over a Discord voice channel.

What Evie brings to the table

Get ready for intriguing NPCs (with fun voices!) and deep, immersive worldbuilding. Combat for this one-shot will be Theater of the Mind (which means no maps), and when it comes to the rules, I wholeheartedly encourage you to wield the fine print like a weapon but embrace the Rule of Cool when it serves you best. Overall, my goal as DM is for you to have fun! I create worlds for players to get lost in and plots where your choices have a genuine impact, with rewards and consequences aplenty.

Safety

How Evie creates a safe table

Since this one-shot has some horror themes, I'll provide a RPG consent checklist in the Discord where you can list any topics you'd like to avoid. The vast majority of the topics on the RPG consent checklist will NOT be explored in game, but it's good to check in with each other in advance regardless. There will be a 15-20 minute break in the middle of the one-shot and we'll have some time to talk after it's over about your experience in the game!
