About the adventure

This episodic adventure is a great start for new players who just want to learn how to play. Light magic use, high fantasy theme, and dragons! This is a homebrew, where the world is not based off any other games. You will explore the world, learn the lore, get know characters and what is happening in the world and understand what went wrong in the past. Travel to the past to fix the future. Every decision you make is very important will change how characters and the world interact with you. Find a ruin, learn about what happened, travel to the past and save the location. Once you travel back to the future, the location could be a thriving town, however, if you did not learn extra information about the location, another location that you knew of quite well, could be the next ruin. Decide who is good and who is evil, what side are you on? Will you save the goblins? Do you choose to end their lives and loot their bodies? Do you choose to lie to the townsfolk and have the goblins attack or will you get a train to plow through the deep dark tunnel saying that there is nothing in there and watch as horrified train passengers watch goblins get slaughtered by the train. Afterall, it wasn't you who killed them. Let's see where your adventure take you!

About me

I enjoy creating worlds for others to enjoy, not just in story, but in details. I like to mix my sessions up into 30/70 of Role-Play and Combat. Some session will be heavy combat focused, while others can be very Role-Play focused, but it's always up to the players and what they think would be best in the situations that they find themselves in. I have been GMing for over 10 years now with a few different campaigns and I find that episodic campaigns are more enjoyable than One-Shots.

Character creation

Creating your character

Everyone will be making their characters on Session 0 at the start of a campaign and I will help you make your character when you have any questions. Each character will start at a given level (starting at level 1). You will roll 4d6 and remove the lowest value die. the result of the 3 highest dice rolled is the start of one of your stats. You will repeat this until you have set up all of your stats. From there you will choose a race and a class. For this story/lore, you can not choose to be a Druid and it is highly recommended to choose a class that doesn't use magic. See the classes as a difficulty. Magic based classes such as Wizard, or Sorcerer will make the adventure [Hard]. A paladin, zen archer, or mixed spell caster classes will make the adventure [Medium]. All classes that do not have magic such as Barbarian, Fighter, Gunslinger, etc. will make the adventure [Easy]. Do not feel discouraged to build a magic based character, just know that your character will need to be extra careful and not focus on casting Fireball every chance they get. Pro Tip: Cantrips and spell-like abilities will not adjust the difficulty. Traits are optional, but not needed. Each character may choose to make a backstory for their character, if you are new to the game, you do not need to this. Each character will need to come up with a small/short story as to how or why they needed up in Jail. When session 1 starts, each character will start in a cell based on your crimes or crime you are accused of.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Discord will be highly recommended as it is the best for voice chats and direct messages from Player to GM. I will be using a paid version of Foundry and thus, players do not need Foundry. Just a decent internet connection. You will need to join my Discord server (given a link) once you sign up.

What Chris brings to the table

I embrace the Rule of Cool! I will be providing ambient music, battle music, sound effects, visuals, a relaxed environment and a fun experience that you will never forget. I will not rush anyone, freedom of choose is my number 1 goal in my games. You can do whatever you like to do, but note that everything has consequences, could be good, could be bad. I love using the element of surprise and I have a knack of ending sessions with cliffhangers. There is a story to the game, but you are a main character and the story revolves around you. I will not tell you what to do or where to go, I may point you in a better direction or offer hints, but it is up to you and your party to make decisions. You can't railroad a story if you are the story. It will just end if you die... or will it?

Homebrew rules

Homebrew rules: Ranged weapons threaten just like melee weapons. You do not need to take the Snap Shot feat. When a player dies, they have 3 days to be revived via church or spell. Hero Point: Use 1 Hero Point to cheat death or choose to send your body to a new location 3 days later (If your body is destroyed before the 3 days or you are revived, you lose your Hero Point) 15th Level, a new class may be taken: Time Patroller Food and Drinks will have effects when cooked. Certain Inns and Taverns may cost more to provide hidden effects such as healing twice as much health, extra XP rewards for certain hours, or buffs. Platinum Pieces are worth 1,000 Gold Pieces instead of 10 Gold Pieces. Combat Maneuvers, Shooting a weapon, and Casting a spell in melee dosen't provoke AoO.

Safety

How Chris creates a safe table

During session 0, we will go over everything players are comfortable with. Are there certain things you do not want to see or hear? Do you not want to see a lot of blood on a screen? Do you not want to deal with romancing NPCs? NPC racism, Cussing, Child death, Out of Game information, etc.
