About the adventure

Have you ever wondered more about any of the avian races of the realms? Couldn't find a campaign to play that treasured Aarakocra character in? Look no further. Leaning on the material from the upcoming Atlas of Toril project (Touring Toril: A Complete Odyssey of the REALMS), this game seeks to explore some of the less seen places above the highest peaks of this beloved fantasy world.

About me

I started DMing before I ever got a chance to be a player. Having received D&D (3e) core books as gifts, I fell in love with world building and storytelling together with my friends and family. Soon after I was introduced to the Forgotten Realms setting and truly found my passion for the hobby. The FR 3e Campaign Setting highlighted a rich and immersive world I longed to be a part of, to explore the untamed edges of the world! I have been working steadily the last couple of years to learn about online DM tools as well as getting up to speed with the newer editions and that has truly been a blast. I bring an infectious enthusiasm to each of my games, and I hope to spread my love for the Realms through wonderful stories for years to come!

Character creation

Creating your character

As there will be significant alterations to the standard options, a document will be shared to outline character options. Players are also free to inquire about any character requests. Plan to have a session zero for character creation (free session) at outset of this campaign. New players joining later on will go through an abbreviated version of this session zero on their first session (or beforehand if convenient), and be brought up to speed with the current events of the campaign.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

This campaign will take place in a combination of Discord Voice Chat and text channels, as well as utilizing Foundry VTT. Also D&D Beyond character sheets will be implemented. Address with the DM how you plan to handle character art after character creation. (Options will be made available for those who struggle with this aspect)

What TaijiDrewB brings to the table

I plan to run this campaign in arcs (1 or 2 per season) of 6-12 weekly sessions. Those arcs will be grouped into Acts 1, 2, & 3. We may or may not play through all three acts depending on a number of factors that will be defined together at session 0. Sometimes I do use quite a bit of vocal work (voices for NPCs, monsters, sound effects), beginning to use more background audio. I will be making a lot of art, maps, and music (or commissioning it) for this and other campaigns. I do enjoy challenging a party strategically, especially once the team dynamic has formed. Tactical combat, puzzles, open-ended narrative solutions are on the ground level here. For those looking to stick with a character a bit longer, we can talk about carrying a PC over multiple arcs. Session 0 will cover a rules discussion (however in depth it needs to be).

Homebrew rules

I tend to run games as edition-less as possible. 5E as a default but 3.5 is where I learned the game. Blending the best for whoever is at my table is my only hard stance on rules sets.

Safety

How TaijiDrewB creates a safe table

Foundry VTT has an X card that can be pulled anonymously to full stop a scene that has crossed the line for someone. Messaging with the DM is the primary defense when comfort zones are tested, whether a problem arises between players or some topic of the game itself, we can't address a problem that isn't communicated.
