About TaijiDrewB

I started DMing before I ever got a chance to be a player. Having received D&D (3e) core books as gifts, I fell in love with world building and storytelling together with my friends and family. Soon after I was introduced to the Forgotten Realms setting and truly found my passion for the hobby. The FR 3e Campaign Setting highlighted a rich and immersive world I longed to be a part of, to explore the untamed edges of the world! I have been working steadily the last couple of years to learn about online DM tools as well as getting up to speed with the newer editions and that has truly been a blast. I bring an infectious enthusiasm to each of my games, and I hope to spread my love for the Realms through wonderful stories for years to come!

Featured Prompts

My favorite books are

Forgotten Realms novels, I am a Forgotten Realms fanatic.

People are always surprised when I tell them

my age.

When I'm not running games I'm...

practicing martial arts (taiji, bagua, xingyi - jian, chainwhip/meteor hammer, longbow, etc), editing/writing, or playing with my kids and our pack of dogs when I am not too busy climbing trees for paychecks.

How TaijiDrewB runs games

Narrative storytelling with emphasis on interesting/engaging characters (with voices and sometimes art) and their various dilemmas define my sessions. More or less combat & puzzle/problem solving focus depending on the group, though I do love to stretch my tactical sensibilities! I heavily encourage cooperative group dynamics and strive to always cultivate a welcoming atmosphere in my games.

Featured Prompts

I deal with rules issues by...

keeping it moving (to best serve the story) or calling a break (when necessary) and clarifying between sessions.

I prep by

crafting/finding appropriate maps (when needed), detailing NPCs and their motivations, absorbing inspirations, checking in with my players, and comparing notes with DM friends.

When it comes to voices

they can really make or break the immersion of a game. I grew up with character voices being made for me, and carried that on making them for my children. I bring that forward in my DMing, with live reading streams, and also singing has been a lifelong passion.

TaijiDrewB's ideal table

Featured Prompts

I love it when a player

brings good energy.

I think it's a red flag when players...

can't share the stage at the table.

I think min/maxing...

takes away more than it adds to the table.
