About the adventure

In the world of Konglong Shijie dinosaurs didn’t go extinct. Rather, they evolved into sentient creatures at war with the beast folk. Now the two kingdoms are locked in a cold war. Anything could ignite the spark that sends them into a world-shattering conflict. Between the realms is a humble fishing village that is unknowingly close to a lost temple with an ancient power. When agents of the dinosaur kingdom come searching for that power, its up to a handful of adventurers to make sure that power doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. The hands that will happily burn down anything for what they want.

About me

How do you make someone forget every single detail of their life? Ask them to talk about themself. I am Sunshine, a non-binary GM from the US. I have been playing TTRGPs for over ten years and GMed on and off most of that time.In addition to TTRPGs, I have been writing and telling stories for as long as I can remember. I have one degree in creative writing and one degree in playwrighting and dramaturgy (basically, I'm the loremaster, question asker, and conflict resolver of a show). I love reading TTRPG books and have a decent knack for memorizing rules (thank you AuDHD!). The systems that I have played are: - Alice is Missing - Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 & 5E - Fabula Ultima - Lasers & Feelings - Monster of the Week - Palladium - Pathfinder 1E & 2E - Phoenix: Dawn Command - Sentinel Comics: The Roleplaying Game

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will start with the default 5 levels & 2-3 classes. You may use the Bonus Content and any of the three Fantasy Atlases, though High Fantasy and Natural Fantasy better fit the adventure's theme. Also use the Playtest Variant rules as there are changes to many class skills as well as a large overhaul of the Arcanist class. Session 0 will consist of creating the characters in the VTT, but do talk with me beforehand about character ideas. I am happy to schedule time to talk over Discord to help build characters and answer any other questions.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account for voice chat and I will send you the link to my Discord server when you sign up. Foundry VTT is used for the game mechanics, but you don't need an account to use it.

What Sunshine brings to the table

I have a Foundry VTT account that will provide tokens, maps, and music. The system also easily automates the system so it is easier to learn. While there is some roleplay in this adventure, most of the adventure involves action scenes, whether they're fights, chases, or preventing a fight from breaking out. However, as I do enjoy roleplay, I will find ways to inject it through the adventure and encourage my players to do the same.

Homebrew rules

- Playtest Variant Rules - While there are a fair bit of rules in the document, here are the highlights: - Initiative isn’t rolled; if a Villain isn’t present the PCs act first and if a Villain is present, the NPCs act first. - Changes made to multiple Core Rulebook class skills. - A major overhaul of the Arcanist (Summoner) class. - Zone Combat - Combat has three distinct zones; Front, Back, and Flying. Characters can only use melee skills while in the Front zone and can only target enemies in the opposing Front zone (with some exceptions). - Environmental Elements - During each combat, I will provide a list of about five objects in the area. During a player’s turn, they can use a single Environmental Element for their action; describe how the object is used for the action and you will get a +1 bonus to your roll. - Rule Mastery Fabula Points - At the start of each session, any player who tells me a rule of the system they learned will earn a free Fabula Point. The rules shouldn't be too complex; about two sentences at most.

Safety

How Sunshine creates a safe table

Shortly after you sign up I will send out an RPG Consent Checklist and share the information at session 0. I will keep the answers anonymous unless requested. I am a huge fan of the Stars and Wishes system. Though as this is a short, pre-made adventure, we will only be handing out Stars at the end of the session. Finally my table is a space where anyone is welcome. Any form of bigotry will not be tolerated.
