About the adventure

*Beginner Friendly* *LGBTQ+ Friendly* *No knowledge of Critical Role required! The campaign is set in the world of Exandria, where CR Campaigns 1-3 take place)* Heroes aren't born-- they're chosen. Across the lands of Wildemount, ancient legends stir once more as a mysterious vision calls a band of adventurers toward a destiny none of them could have imagined. What begins as a local competition quickly becomes a race against rival heroes, forgotten secrets, and forces buried beneath the world for centuries. As you journey through bustling cities, hostile wastelands, and the depths of an uncharted underwater realm, you'll uncover the truth behind a fallen champion whose legacy has been lost to time. Every choice you make will shape not only your own story, but the fate of a soul trapped between glory and despair. The depths are calling. Will you answer?

About me

Howdy! I'm Cait, and I have been an avid D&D player for a little over two years, and began GMing a year ago! I caught the D&D bug when Baldur's Gate 3 came out, followed shortly after by devouring Critical Role's animated series of their first campaign, The Legend of Vox Machina, and watching the actual play of Critical Role's second campaign in its entirety. I am a writer and former theater kid who loves improv and has been telling stories in one form or another her entire life. While I love the strategy and combat of D&D, what drew me in was the roleplay and collaborative storytelling. As someone who got her start playing D&D (outside of BG3) on Start Playing Games, I understand how scary it can seem to join an online D&D game with people you don't know, especially as a new player. I also understand the value of a guaranteed D&D session on a day and time that consistently works for you (finding one IRL is hard, and not always possible). I like to compare the happiness that a great session brings you as a player to what I imagine a "runner's high" is like, and that boost of serotonin and endorphins is always worth chasing! Creating joy with and for others is what I love most about GMing. I have GMed for newbies and D&D vets, and I LOVE teaching new players how to play! My goal as your GM is to provide a space for veteran and new players alike to come together and tell a great story that leaves us both with that "runner's high" feeling when the session ends. I hope to see you at my table soon!

Character creation

Creating your character

- We are running 2024 Rules - Characters start at level 3. Once you join the campaign via D&D Beyond, you will have access to all the resources I have on Beyond. If you want to use something from a resource I don't own, please let me know what it is/send me the info. - You can use either the Standard Array or Point Buy for character stats if you are doing them before session 0. If you want to roll your stats, we will do it together in Session 0.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

- You will need a D&D Beyond account, a Discord account, and the AboveVTT browser extension.

What Cait brings to the table

What you can expect from me: - The "You Can Certainly Try" Mindset: My DMing style is a mixture of both Rule of Cool and Rules As Written. You can certainly ask if your crazy idea is plausible, and most of the time I'll let you at least give it a shot unless it is completely impossible. At the end of the day, I just want people to have fun, and I want to have fun! - Roleplay & Lore: As a writer and former theatre kid, I LOVE hearing about your character's backstory and weaving it into the narrative (to be used for your advantage and against, hehehe), and roleplay is highly encouraged, and good roleplay is rewarded! - Collaborative Storytelling: Even when we're playing a pre-written module, ANYTHING can happen, because we are telling this story together! - A Little Bit of Chaos: It's not D&D if there's not a touch of chaos, is it? My tables are 18+, my humor is definitely 18+, and my goal is for each of my tables to be a place where people can be silly and themselves.

Safety

How Cait creates a safe table

Once you join the Discord Server, there will be a link to download the RPG consent form for this adventure! I will ask that you fill it out and send it to me ahead of session 0 if possible. During Session 0 we will finish up character creation (if needed), go over table rules, get to know one another, and go over the group's comfort levels with various topics as outlined by the consent form.
