About the adventure
🌲 If you love the feeling of: • Dangerous secrets in small, isolated villages surrounded by eerie forests • Folk-horror mysteries filled with quiet, creeping unease • Moral choices and slow-burning dread 🕯️ What this game is about Late one evening, during a thunderstorm, you arrive in a remote town to investigate a missing person. It is not the first disappearance in this area. The locals are polite, cooperative… and strangely unconcerned. This is a 2–3 session mini-campaign with a complete story. Focus on investigation, roleplay and meaningful decisions under pressure. 🌱 New to D&D? You’re welcome. • Rules explain as we play • Help with character creation and use of VTT • A calm, respectful table where everyone gets space This is a free introductory mini-campaign with a complete story arc. Players who enjoy the tone and style will have the option to continue into a longer paid folk horror campaign with a consistent group.

About me
🕯️I run folk horror D&D games set in small, isolated places where something is wrong, even if no one will admit it. My games are grounded and clear. I like to guide players through environments using 3D maps, pictures and ambient sounds, so you always understand where you are, how spaces connect, and what surrounds you. You’re not just being told about a place - you’re inside it. 🗝️ My tables are roleplay-heavy, focused on atmosphere, character interaction, and meaningful consequences rather than performance or spectacle. When combat happens, it means something has already gone wrong. 👁️You are not heroes passing through - you are part of a place that existed before you arrived.

Creating your character
Characters are created on D&D Beyond using official D&D 5.5e rules (2024). We use Standard Array - this keeps the party balanced and the stakes meaningful. New to D&D? There’s a short, beginner-friendly step-by-step guide on our Discord. It takes about 10 minutes. I’m also happy to answer questions and help tie your character to the world before Session 1.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before Session 1, you’ll need: • A character sheet on D&D Beyond • The AboveVTT browser extension (Chrome or Firefox) • A stable microphone and headphones • Webcam is optional - voice-only is completely fine Setup links and a short, step-by-step walkthrough are available on the game’s Discord server. If you’re new to online play, I’ll help you get everything working before we start.
What Alex Lantz brings to the table
• Clear custom maps, location artwork, visual inserts • Ambient sound and music used with intention • Distinct in-character NPC voices • A world that reacts to your decisions, not a script • 15–20 minutes after each session to reflect and discuss (optional)
Homebrew rules
I primarily follow the official D&D 5.5e rules (2024). During play, rulings may be made quickly to maintain the flow. After the session, we can review any rule calmly and adjust if needed. The priority is a smooth, focused game - not stopping the story for rulebook arguments. Respectful rules discussions are welcome.

How Alex Lantz creates a safe table
I use a simple, low-friction approach to safety tools. Players can speak up during play or message me privately on Discord at any time. If a pause or adjustment is needed, we take a short break and move on without drawing unnecessary attention to the issue.
