About the adventure
This is an asynchronous, Play-by-Post campaign! Can your party use its guile and cunning as well as its brawn and strength to oust the darkness before it's too late! The Jade Serpent: Tides of Corruption is a unique, homebrew adventure, designed by myself which pits your wit and your brawn against the encroaching tides of chaos in the dark and gritty world of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay! This is a sandbox campaign of intrigue, exploration, and peril in the grim and perilous world of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Expect a rich mix of social roleplay, investigation and high-stakes combat where the consequences of your actions shape the unfolding story. You are not bound to a single path and the adventure could take you anywhere from Nuln, to Altdorf, to Salezmund, to Marienburg and even as far away as Ulthuan or Lustria! The Jade Serpent is not a single enemy, nor a simple mystery. It is a network of influence, ambition, and corruption, threaded through guilds, noble houses, and hidden cults. Some seek profit. Others seek power. And some serve darker forces they barely understand. Your choices matter. Alliances will shift. Enemies will not always be obvious. And the deeper you delve, the more you may find that the Jade Serpent is not merely spreading corruption, it is awakening something far older. The Serpent wakes. What you do next is up to you!

About me
I have been playing TTRPGs for 30 years and have experience running a variety of systems. My Favorites are Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, D&D, All Flesh Must Be Eaten and Kids on Bikes. Growing up I was a proper geek. I started a Hero Quest club when I was 9 and had two sessions a week, one for the juniors who were all in my year at school and one for the seniors who were one or two years older than me. I wrote my first dungeon-crawler RPG at age 11 and used to pen my own choose-your-own-adventure stories. In my teens I got really into RPGs and never looked back! I remember sitting in on my big brother's D&D sessions when I was about 8 and the magic of those moments have never left me. It is this magic that I try to recreate in every session - the sense of adventure and the limitless possibilities! Player agency is very important to me, we are telling this story together, I want you to feel immersed in the world and feel that your actions matter and have tangible consequences. I am very inclusive and can fit the theme and style of the game to suit your needs.

Creating your character
We will create characters using the standard methods in the book which allow for player choice but reward random creation. I will have some pre-gen characters for you to select from if you want. We will play with experienced characters of around 5000xp.
Current characters are a Gnome Shadowmancer and a Knight of Morr
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you need to play is Discord. Knowledge of the rules is not essential as I can share the rules with you as you need. We use Owlbear and Tupper - both free for players.
What GM Bren brings to the table
I will bring the digital copies of the rules, the campaign books and digital maps so you just need to turn up - the rest is taken care of!
Homebrew rules
Initiative: Roll for SL Max advantage in combat = 4 Falling damage = 1d6 + (3*yards) Exploding Crits - on non-combat rolls, if you crit, roll d100 and add the 10s to the SL - doubles add and roll again. Movement in combat: 16 yards + action, or 32 yards, no action.

How GM Bren creates a safe table
Players can expect authentic WFRP experience from an experienced GM. Lots of mystery, intrigue and grit! Session 0 will go over player expectations and boundaries, I never have explicit sex scenes and will always fade to black. There is likely to be some gory scenes and we will discuss boundaries around this in Session 0. We will use X, N and O cards to allow players to indicate when content is too triggering and we will roll back, fade to black, or change course to make sure everyone feels safe. This is done completely without judgement and includes the Open Door so anyone can take a break without fear of judgement. At the end of the game we will check in for some aftercare and a debrief and I will ask for some feedback.
