About the adventure

Along the northern reaches of the Salted Spine Mountains lays the storied and beloved town of Dun Ardain. Home to a clan of mystical druids and brave rangers known collectively as the Ardanach (Ar-Dawn-och), the town and the surrounding wilds have maintained relative normalcy in the centuries since the Collapse. However, strange shadows move at the edges of the towns safety. Disappearances, crop failures, rangers abandoning their posts, and a reclusive shaman are made worse as a new dense fog filled with horrific creatures descends from the wood. Are you willing to brave the wilds and venture forth to the Valley of the Crone, the dwelling of an immortal sorceress of untold power, to seek aid and answers? Come and enjoy a no-strings attached one shot in the unique and original world of Onentir! About me

I've been playing D&D for about 20 years, and have been a GM for most of that time. While active duty in the Navy, taught new players and wrote campaigns on deployments for new groups regularly. My experience with TTRPGs has mostly revolved around new players, and at this point I genuinely feel that I specialize in introducing new people to this lovely game! Primarily I write my own adventures based on the themes, players are interested in, and have a significant amount of experience with distant playing utilizing VTTs and voice/video calling. Players can expect vast worlds, detailed storytelling, significant opportunities for role-playing, respect for player agency, professionally licensed soundscapes and music, and unique original adventures! I have created my own campaign setting, full of its own unique lore and history based on my indigenous Native American roots. I've ran 5 campaigns in the world and am currently writing a novel about it! Check out the world here: https://onentir.vvd.world/ I welcome and appreciate all at my tables and encourage self expression within a safe environment for all. LGBTQIA+ friendly!

Character creation

Creating your character

Feel free to make your characters ahead of time using D&D Beyond! Start at level one and use the Point Buy stat systems. All official WoTC sources welcome, anything else will be discussed at session! If you are a new player, feel free to use a randomized or quick start character! We can cover everything else when we get started!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

If you are new to dungeons and dragons, feel free to take advantage of all of the amazing resources here on this site! I highly recommend downloading the D&D Beyond App, as that will be our VTT for the game. You could also brush up on the free rules within D&D Beyond! Feel free to read about the world we'll be playing in here! https://onentir.vvd.world/ If you show up having done any or none of these things, you will be just fine and we will go on an awesome adventure together!

What Doug Comstock brings to the table

I am an incredibly laid back GM who likes to emphasize moments, your decisions, and making sure that we all have a great time. I have a robust library of completely licensed music that I will be mixing live during the session, I've made maps for our adventures, and have a wide cast of voices for any NPC you can imagine! My goal as a GM is to give you a place to let your imagination run freely. You don't need to know all of the rules, just come with your creativity and your excitement to play!

Safety

How Doug Comstock creates a safe table

I will send players a link to a COMPLETELY anonymous document wherein you can list any Lines & Veils, and highlight any hard and soft limits you might have. At Session 0 I will state what the hard barriers are and get verbal consent from all at the table before we proceed with play. My tables are inclusive and safe, no exceptions. So, if there are things that I as a GM can do to help make players comfortable, let me know! Some elements of this story will be scary, dark, and designed to provoke an emotional response. I will dedicate time after each session for players to discuss or voice concerns. My promise to you is that my goal is not to cause you the player any harm of any kind. Any in game tension is meant to draw you in, not push you out!
