About the adventure

Welcome to the City of Vale. The party has been sent to a mountaintop excavation site where you will be leading a team in a dig, where rumors of not just dragonbones, but of all kinds of mythical beasts have been discovered. Your status in your community has given you the chance to take the trip on a magical luxury train that is supposed to get you there faster while still allowing you to prepare and refresh in the way those of your talents deserve. At first, it is luxury. Your needs are met, your accommodations perfect. This is the best mini-vacation you could have hoped for on your way to your next job. And then, the wind begins to blow …

About me

I am a romance writer, freelance editor, and community organizer from SLC! I've only been playing TTRPGs for about six years (like a lot of us, got into it during the pandemic), and I love playing in the chaos and building worlds with people at the table. It's stunning to me how fast you become friends with people you didn't even know an hour ago. I love, love the Daggerheart system. D&D is a love, as is Thirsty Sword Lesbians. I currently play in 4 regular games (2 Daggerheart, 1 D&D, 1 Vampire of the Masquerade). I run one-shots at our favorite gaming cafe, and also once a month for newbies to TTRPGs at our queer bookstore. I'm about to take over GMing one of the Daggerheart tables. I have run games at the Utah Museum of Natural History for different fundraising programs they have put together, and am on the call list for our gaming cafe when they need event GMs.

Character creation

Creating your character

This is a one shot! Come with characters created and we will use the first half hour to an hour getting to know each other and confirming character choices as necessary. The game is a level 5, and both 2014 and 2024 rules are allowed. All species and classes are allowed. Players are allowed 2 magical items: one uncommon and one very rare.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Game will be hosted on discord (link sent after signup is confirmed) Maps will be utilized through Owlbear Rodeo. No registration is required. Players will need a reliable internet connection, access to discord, working audio/vocal on their computer (it is preferred to have headphones so you can cut down on background noise.)

What Vega brings to the table

While the rules matter, I am very much about rule of cool. This is a fun romp through the desert, on our way to the top of a mountain, not a slog through the textbook. I believe in fun roleplay, character exploration, and I'll do my best to keep the maps working!

Safety

How Vega creates a safe table

As this is a one shot, we will spend the first 30-45 minutes with introductions and pronouns, and go over player lines and veils before diving in. The session will end with a chat about what their favorite moments during the game, and a chance to decompress. There will be a bio break midway through the session, but players do not need to be tied to the computer if they need to step out. X cards can be said outloud, messaged across the chat, or held up to the camera.
