About the adventure
The year is 2369. You and a group of ragtag space adventurers have been exploring the Milky Way Galaxy for almost 10 years now, aboard Dawson’s Haven. Some of your crew are talented force sword wielders, others are straight shooters with laser cannons, and there is talk that a crew member even speaks with the entities that live in the folds of space time. That’s just talk though. When the captain, Philomena Jinx, comes into possession of a mysterious compass and a book filled with sparkling ink that comes to life, you head on an adventure that explores gender, sexuality, friendship, and family beyond their wildest dreams. You and the crew will travel far in your adventures. Rescuing space beetles in their native habitats, finding the secret ingredients for a special tonic that can save a planet, negotiating peace between the cephalopod creatures of the Medusa Nebula and the fish folk of BT-12 that are being sucked into the abyss. Along the way you’ll find lovers, eat the most delicious food, learn new skills, and maybe even sing a shanty or two. It is not all kisses and laughter though. A group of Void Legion militia, led by a power hungry Empress of Stars, follow closely on the tail of Dawson’s Haven as you fly across space to find treasures of the heart. You will have to woo, deceive, and sometimes even fight your way out of their clutches to protect the galaxy and its creatures. None of this will be easy, but by the stars, it will be fun.

About me
I've been exploring the world of ttrpgs and role playing games for 8 years. I started out as a clueless bard in traditional D&D 5e, expanded into one shot adventures I would GM with my closest friends, and now find the most joy and creative expression as a GM in Indie rpg world. Some of my favorites are Thirsty Sword Lesbians, Badge Quest, and Teatime Adventures. I love the cooperative storytelling nature of ttrpgs. As a GM I have the most fun when my players are vulnerable, silly, and go against the status quo. When we are all laughing and/or feeling deeply, I see the true magic of these games come alive. My tables are always a safe place for POC, lgbtq+, people who are differently bodied, neurodivergent folks, and folks who are disabled. No one is perfect, but I take this very seriously and do not tolerate breaches of this safety. I have three cats, am a Trekkie, make a lot of art, and hug trees. My games are about building community and creativity through the tabletop experience. I can't wait to game with you!

Creating your character
Creating your character should be a fun and exciting endeavor. At Session 0, come prepared with a playbook or two from the Thirsty Sword Lesbians and Lesbians and Lovers rulebooks (I will provide digital source material for those who need) that appeal to you and the type of character you may want to play. We will build our cast and fit characters into the world of Voyagers of Venus at that session. During Session 0 and throughout the campaign I love to see your inspirational creations about your characters. Things like character playlists, aesthetic boards, messy lesbian media inspo, and the like. This helps me as a GM understand your character and how you imagine playing them. A great game, that inspires messy and moving moments, comes from these understandings.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Play will be held on Discord and Roll20. A solid headphone/mic setup is preferrable. Server will be provided after game signup. The server will have copies of game material needed for character creation and play.
What Emberlee Ash brings to the table
My games are about character expression. I lean heavily on role playing and encourage pcs to interact and form relationships of all kinds within group and with NPCs. I love featuring stories that are messy, magical, and embrace the beauty of what the world could be if we let wonder take hold. My games are low on combat and I tend to favor players working out conflict with negotiation and good communication. That does not means it won't come to fist a cuffs during game, but that is not the point of my games. Rules are guidelines here as well, and I am willing to bend them for a good plot and/or with proper explanation. I do bring in character voices but it is not my strong suit. In fact, my tables sometimes get a good laugh at my attempts. I do enjoy deep description of characters, settings, and objects in the worlds we visit. I even bring in my own artwork for the games! I prefer to have my camera on while playing for ease of understanding of my players, and would prefer they have their cameras on too. This is flexible though, and I also have sympathy for those that struggle to be on camera. Let me know if you have any concerns or accommodations that need to be met.
Homebrew rules
I use stat blocks for explorative moves within Thirsty Sword Lesbians. The "Figuring Out a Person" move will be more flexible in it's wording. Double 6's get you an XP in game or plus one forward, player choice.

How Emberlee Ash creates a safe table
My table is a safe and courageous space for players. We will use a Lines and Veils document, sent out before Session 0 and edited whenever needed throughout the campaign. The sheet will be transposed into our Discord server as well, for ease of access during games. Here players can communicate topics they'd like to keep behind a veil and topics they would not like brought up at all. Within Discord and in game, I encourage open communication. You can reach out whenever needed for yours or someone else’s safety. During the game, I am comfortable being approached with problems or concerns, and open to honest feedback and accountability. I am not perfect, and always learning. The Discord will also feature a Stars and Wishes channel where, at the end of each game, we will share desires, things we enjoyed about the games, and moments that really stuck out to us. This is a debriefing and time to decompress quickly before logging off. Stars and Wishes/Lines and Veils will also be discussed in Session 0 to aid me in planning for a game you all enjoy. Any questions can be brought to me on Discord or on Start Playing.
