About the adventure
Welcome to The Collegium Arcanum, a four-year magical university where you will learn what it means to be a Wizard. Here, you will study spells, survive exams, explore ancient halls, build friendships and rivalries, and slowly grow from a novice mage into a master of the arcane. Campus life is full of discovery, from late-night study sessions and extracurricular clubs to magical duels, dangerous fieldwork, and whispered secrets beneath the school. This campaign is built for players who want the full magical school experience. You will attend classes, bond with professors and classmates, choose your magical path, and shape your story through both social roleplay and adventure. The Collegium is not just a place of learning. Beneath the campus lies a vast dungeon used by students to test themselves, uncover treasure, and chase forbidden knowledge. Inspired by the Harry Potter series, the Strixhaven campaign, and the Persona series, expect a mix of wonder, mystery, relationships, personal growth, and supernatural danger. One day you may be cramming for exams, joining a student club, or getting dragged into campus drama. The next, you may be delving into ancient ruins, uncovering hidden truths, or standing against forces that threaten the entire university. At its heart, this is a campaign about becoming who you are. Your character will learn, struggle, make friends and enemies, and leave their mark on The Collegium Arcanum. Whether you dream of mastering forbidden magic, rising to the top of your chosen college, uncovering the truth beneath the campus, or simply surviving four chaotic years of Wizard school, your story begins here. --------------------- A Solo Play-by-Post game is a 1-on-1 storytelling experience between you and me, the GM, played entirely through written posts. About me
As what I'm sure is quite the familiar story by now, I first starting playing D&D5e during the Covid-19 pandemic. At first, it was something that a few of my friends and I did to stay connected and pass the time, but it soon blossomed into a full-grown passion for me. Not long after that game ended, I found StartPlaying, and found an easy way to find games to play in and people to play with. Having played as a player for most of my time, I want to grow as a DM, so hopefully I can help other people looking to play find their outlet.

We will use D&D Beyond to create the character sheet, and using the Avrae bot on Discord for rolls We will be using the 2024/5.5e rules update, and all official 1st-party backgrounds and species are allowed Your class will need to be a Wizard

What Evan brings to the table
Upon joining the campaign, you will be invited to my Discord server where the game will take place. Here is where you can chat, post memes, plan your next steps, keep a journal, and more You'll also get access to Content Sharing on D&D Beyond, with all 1st-party content, and a growing list of 3rd-party content I will run the game Rules as Written, but there is always room for Rule of Cool if it makes sense and can be justified.
Homebrew rules
- Healing Potions: Bonus Action = Rolled HP / Action = Full Amount - Critical Hit: When rolling a Critical Hit on an attack, we will use max damage, in additional to another damage roll - Critical Success: When rolling a Natural 20 on a skill check, it is an automatic success - Desperate Measures: When you hit half-health or become "Bloodied", you will be able to make Desperate Measures, allowing you to mark off Death Saving Throws in exchange for the ability to push yourself beyond your normal limits
