About the adventure

Set in 2020, the "Hunt For The Velos Shards" campaign centers on the false deity Velos attempting to restore his previous power after being forced into dormancy in a whimsical, nonsensical realm. You have the power to decide if he succeeds, fails or otherwise. You have the choice to cooperate or compete, with the other players to decide whether or not this new pantheon is formed... and, should you decide to help form this new pantheon, you then decide what it will or will not become. In any case, it is all in your hands.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created in DNDBeyond. Refer to any book you own or is part of the campaign when you join the link. Characters will end Session 1 at level three, due to graduating high school in the year 2014. It is during this Session that backstories and unique attributes or aspects will be explained and integrated into the campaign. As this is the episode where everyone officially meets in high school, this is also the session that decides alignment and how the campaign will play out for that specific party, or even if the party will remain as a party. Session 2 will have players end at Level 10. This is the session where it will be determined if characters went to college, trade school, received special training or otherwise. How feats work in this particular campaign is simple. For racial feats, you automatically get them when you choose your race. The in-universe explanation is that these are usually things you are born with or just come naturally to your race by the time you reach school age (as in, there would need to be an explanation for why a character does NOT have those racial feats). As for other feats, your character must properly train for them and qualify for them to be allowed to take them. This usually means having the proper ability scores and proficiencies so that it would make sense in-universe for this character to have that feat. These will be discussed during the session. One can choose to not go to post-secondary school, or even to drop out of high school. However, this will affect your character's experience accordingly (not necessarily for the worse, either).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need to join the discord server I make for this game, and also to get familiar with DNDBeyond as a platform.

What Niles brings to the table

Players can expect me to use Rule of Cool and Rules As Intended, though I am willing to bend in certain situations. I also deeply immerse myself into this game, so please bear with me if I break into weird voices or mannerisms to get into character.

Homebrew rules

I usually operate within the rules, however there are some minor differences that will be further discussed in Session 1.

Safety

How Niles creates a safe table

Generally, I will be checking in with players to make sure everyone is still having a good time. When I ask for feedback, please give it so that I know what is working and (most importantly) what is not working. I will do surveys and check-in sheets, but ultimately my ability to accommodate you is only as good as the communication and feedback I get from my players.
