About the adventure

Let's go to magic school, where everything is transmutable and constantly changing, but one thing never changes: all are accepted here for who they are! Go to classes, make up magic spells, and go to detention in the Deep, Dark Woods to fight Musclecorns and Schlorples. Kids on Brooms is a magic school game based on the Kids on Bikes system and is heavily roleplay-focused. All my games are LGBTQ+-friendly, forever and always.

About me

Hello there! I'm Anya (she/her) and I'm an American expat living in Germany. I have 26+ years of acting experience and have been playing a variety of TTRPGs since 2009, GMing since 2019. While English is my native language, I also speak French and German. I regularly guest on streamed Actual Plays on Twitch, from Girls Run These Worlds to EUphoria to Live from the Apocalypse and more! I also won the 2025 CRIT Award for Best Indie GM! While D&D 5e is certainly a staple, I adore exploring the less common/popular TTRPGs, such as my personal favorite, Candela Obscura, and got my start in the Serenity RPG back in college. I'm also a Silver Bestseller with my 5e module The Curse of Fate and my Candela Obscura Assignment, The Woman in Red! I look forward to playing with you. 🥰

Character creation

Creating your character

We will build characters prior to the session start time. There are a few steps in building your magical student, including your wand and broom type, which affect gameplay!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Basic webcams and mics are perfectly fine! This isn't a streamed Actual Play, and the important thing is that we are able to see each other and understand one another. Basic understanding of the genre is of course helpful, but you don't need to be an expert in Glitter Hearts by any means! That's what I'm here for. You are welcome to have your own physical dice to play with, or you can use virtual dice as well.

What Anya brings to the table

I will bring the game PDF and a host of LGBTQ+ characters and fun, lighthearted scenarios, and weave a bizarre and fascinating world for your characters to explore.

Safety

How Anya creates a safe table

I will send out a copy of the form-fillable Lines & Veils to all players prior to the game, and we will discuss these in session zero with names stripped away to be anonymous. There will be no graphic gore in this game, as it is one of my lines, and given the nature of Kids on Brooms, it lends itself to the fluffier, emotional, fantasy side of storytelling. You make the story and the world your own! If at any time a player needs to modify their Lines & Veils, they are absolutely welcome to message me privately and we will pivot/update that information accordingly. After the session, we will give a quick recap of how the session went and if there were any shifts in tone needed to ensure that all players have an enjoyable time.
