About the adventure

The Galactic Empire rules the galaxy with fear, overwhelming force, and absolute control. Worlds fall silent under Imperial occupation, and those who resist are crushed before rebellion can truly take hold. Yet in the shadows, small cells of freedom fighters begin to rise. In this campaign, you will play members of an early rebel cell operating during the rise of the Empire. Your group will conduct sabotage missions, rescue prisoners, gather intelligence, and strike at Imperial forces wherever opportunities appear. These operations are dangerous and the Empire’s reach is long, but every victory weakens their grip and brings the galaxy one step closer to open rebellion. This game uses the Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars RPG system, known for its narrative dice mechanics that create cinematic and story-driven outcomes. Expect a mix of roleplay, tactical combat, and daring missions inspired by Star Wars stories like Rogue One, Andor, and the original trilogy. I run highly immersive games using Foundry VTT, ambient music, cinematic scenes, and dynamic encounters. Character backstories will matter, and players will have opportunities to shape the direction of the rebellion through their choices and actions. New players are always welcome, and I’m happy to teach the system. Whether you’re a seasoned smuggler, a soldier turned freedom fighter, or someone simply trying to survive under Imperial rule, your story will become part of the growing rebellion.

About me

Hey folks! My name is Thomas Jarvis, and I’m based in the Northwestern United States. I recently transitioned out of the U.S. Army after six years of active service, and I bring that same teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail into the games I run. Outside of tabletop gaming, I’m also an intermediate blacksmith. That work feeds directly into my love of craftsmanship, problem-solving, and building things with purpose, which carries over into how I design and run games. I come from a military background and enjoy creating collaborative, tactical, and memorable scenarios with my players. I’m just as excited to see where the story goes as you are, and I do enjoy coming up with fun NPC voices along the way 😜 I primarily run Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, focusing on fun and creative roleplay, intense tactical combat, and strong character-driven adventures. I also run the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Fantasy Flight Games for players interested in a more cinematic, narrative-focused system. Before transitioning out of the Army, I worked as a communications specialist, helping people learn new systems, tools, and skills. That background carries over directly into my games. I’m patient, clear, and genuinely enjoy teaching. New players are always welcome, and I enjoy helping people experience their very first adventure. There’s nothing quite like stepping beyond the wire for the first time. My table is meant to be a safe, structured environment where players can relax, stay immersed, and enjoy the game without outside-world stress bleeding into the experience. We play tabletop RPGs to escape the real world for a few hours and focus on telling stories, taking creative risks, and having fun together. Clear expectations, respectful play, and good communication help keep the focus where it belongs, on the adventure. Now let’s roll some dice! 🎲

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be conducted during session 0. We will go over premise, lore, and character creation guide lines. For newer players I will assist them during this time as well.

What Thomas Jarvis brings to the table

In my games, I focus on creating a cinematic and immersive experience where players feel like they are part of a Star Wars story rather than simply rolling dice. Players can expect a narrative-driven campaign with meaningful character choices, strong roleplay opportunities, and tactical combat that reflects the chaos and danger of the galaxy under Imperial rule. I embrace the Rule of Cool when it enhances the story, while still respecting the mechanics that make the Fantasy Flight Games system shine. I make extensive use of ambient music, thematic soundtracks, and visual scenes through Foundry VTT to help bring each location and encounter to life. Combat encounters are dynamic and cinematic, with enemies that react intelligently and environments that matter. Every character in the group will have opportunities to shine. I work closely with players to weave their backstories into the campaign, ensuring that personal motivations, rivalries, and relationships become part of the unfolding story. My table is welcoming to both new and experienced players. If you are new to the FFG Star Wars system, I will happily help guide you through the mechanics so you can focus on enjoying the adventure. You can expect: • Cinematic storytelling inspired by Star Wars films and shows • Tactical and narrative combat encounters • Immersive music and visual scenes • Character-driven storytelling and personal story arcs • A respectful and collaborative table environment Whether you are a seasoned smuggler, a rebel freedom fighter, or someone just beginning their journey in the galaxy, my goal is to make every session feel like another chapter in a living Star Wars story.

Homebrew rules

Stimpack / Healing Action Adjustment Characters may still use a maneuver to apply a stimpack as normal. However, a character may also spend their action to perform a Medicine check (Difficulty 2) to provide additional medical treatment. This represents taking time to properly treat wounds rather than relying only on quick stimpack use. Story / Mission Based XP Experience is awarded at the completion of missions or major story milestones rather than strictly at the end of each session. Some missions may take multiple sessions to complete. XP is granted once the objective or narrative arc is resolved. Narrative Dice Contributions Players are encouraged to suggest outcomes for Advantage, Threat, Triumph, and Despair when appropriate. Final interpretation rests with the GM to maintain pacing and narrative consistency.

Safety

How Thomas Jarvis creates a safe table

Table Safety Creating a safe, respectful, and welcoming table environment is important to me. Before the campaign begins, we will discuss expectations during Session 0, including tone, themes, and player comfort levels. I use Lines and Veils to establish clear boundaries for content players may want to avoid or keep off-screen. These can be shared privately if players prefer. During play, players are always free to speak up if something becomes uncomfortable. We can pause, adjust the scene, or move past content without disrupting the flow of the game. My table emphasizes mutual respect and collaboration. Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior is not tolerated. The goal is for everyone at the table to feel comfortable contributing, roleplaying, and enjoying the story together.
