About the adventure
You, like many others, have come to the kingdom of Auguria for the annual Tournament Of Magic that is hosted by the royal family. In this tournament you will be arranged into a team and have your magical prowess put the test against battles, challenges, puzzles, and other casters. All of you will compete to be crowned this years winner of the tournament, which will no doubt grant you life long recognition, success, and opportunities. Though, underneath the surface of this tournament, there is something quite more sinister going on. Something so conniving and dreadful that only the most favored and skilled of prophets and diviners can even guess... and even they cannot warn you of what is to come.

About me
I have over 6 years of experience GM-ing, across multiple systems. I got into the tabletop world via D&D, and since then I've honed my craft as much as a can with systems like Blades In The Dark, CAIN, Vampire: The Masquerade, and more. I tend to go for more story driven games, where other themes like combat and exploration are used to add depth. Two of the things I value most in a game is freedom and the a good player backstory, one that I can interweave into the world itself.

Creating your character
Your characters will be made before the first session(preferably via d&d beyond) and will start at level 3. Stats will be determined by rolling 4d6, dropping the lowest, and allocating the stat to wherever. In addition, your character will be allowed one starting feat and one uncommon magic item. As a note: While I enjoy nothing more than creative backstory, it should be mentioned that you will be expected to play as a full or half caster and perform magic throughout the majority of the campaign. However, alternatives, such as playing a 1/3 caster, playing as a caster who is cosplaying another caster(like a warlock disguised as a cleric), or even being without magic will be available and viable, as long as we have ample time to have a conversation about it beforehand.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This campaign will be hosted via a mix of discord(using avrae), d&d beyond(dicecloud will work as well), and owlbear rodeo.
What KEY brings to the table
Due to the nature of play by post, you will be getting incredibly detailed descriptions, well-written dialogue, and an immersive and breathing world where anything can be interacted with and lore is ripe for the taking. The combat of this campaign will be decently tactical, requiring you to truly think about your next move aside from just blasting the enemy closest to you. In addition, I value creativity more than anything else, and will allow things that may not be in the rules with the caveat of an ability check and consequences for failure.
Homebrew rules
Potions can be drank as a bonus action. Drinking or administering a potion as an action will grant you the maximum result, instead of rolling die. For critical hits, you will deal maximum damage with your first set of damage die and then roll the second set. For critical successes on ability checks and saving throws, you will be granted advantage on certain rolls afterwards. In turn, for critical failures, you will suffer disadvantage on certain rolls afterwards. If you are brought back from being downed and go down again, the DC of your death saves will be increased by 1. In addition, your first roll after being brought back will be made at disadvantage.

How KEY creates a safe table
I will host a session 0 and send out a RPG Consent Checklist, allowing players to inform me of any content that must be excluded. Xs, Ns, and Os can be sent to me digitally. I use Stars and Wishes for my sessions, in addition to providing a list of the content that will come up in a session a day or two before.
