About the adventure
The mists do not part by accident. Drawn into the cursed land of Barovia, you find yourself trapped beneath a blood-red sky ruled by the immortal vampire lord, Strahd von Zarovich. Ancient castles loom over dying villages. Wolves howl in forests that do not forget. The people speak in hushed tones of fate, curses, and a ruler who watches from the shadows. But something in Barovia is changing. In this reimagined Curse of Strahd, the horror is not only survival... it is temptation. The land itself is watching you. Dreams whisper promises. Power comes at a cost. Strahd is no distant villain waiting in a final dungeon; he is present, calculating, and deeply interested in you. As the story unfolds, you will discover that Barovia may not simply be a prison… but a proving ground. This is a slow-burn, character-driven play-by-post campaign designed for players who love immersive roleplay, moral tension, political intrigue, and psychological horror. Expect private secrets, personal story arcs, faction manipulation, and difficult choices that shape the world around you. Combat is meaningful and dangerous, but the true battleground is ambition, corruption, loyalty, and the question of who deserves power. If you enjoy gothic atmosphere, layered villains, tragic romance, creeping dread, and stories where your character’s inner darkness matters just as much as their sword arm; this game is for you. Barovia is hungry. The throne is not as secure as it seems. And the mists have chosen you for a reason

About me
I love playing Dungeons & Dragons and I’m always up for trying new games. I enjoy being creative with my characters and NPCs, and nothing beats the feeling of telling a story that truly immerses people. My goal is for players to get so drawn in that they lose themselves in another world for a few hours. I’ve been DMing for almost five years...probably more by the time you read this. I started with weekend one shots and eventually began running near daily games on a West Marches server. Over time, I’ve developed a full homebrew world that I’d love for others to experience. What I thrive on is making sure that each person has a unique experience in a game. I love when my players have ah ha moments, or moments where their jaws hit the ground...being able to hear and see the joy the experience while in a game is rewarding. I always try to bring something fresh to my games; new mechanics, creative twists, and narrative depth, to keep every session exciting and engaging for my players.

What That Witchy DM brings to the table
I run deeply character-driven games where your backstory, ambitions, flaws, and moral choices matter. Barovia will not feel static or scripted, it will react to you. NPCs remember what you say and do. Factions shift based on your influence. The Dark Powers whisper differently to each character. This campaign is built to be immersive and personal, with private story threads, individualized dream sequences, and slow-burn character arcs that develop over time. Strahd himself will not be a distant villain waiting in a final dungeon; he will observe, test, manipulate, and engage with you throughout the campaign. Because this is a Play-by-Post game, I focus heavily on rich, cinematic narration and intentional pacing. Every scene has purpose. Every post moves the story forward. Expect vivid descriptions, psychological tension, and emotional weight; whether you are attending a dangerous dinner invitation, navigating political unrest in Vallaki, or standing your ground in a desperate fight against the horrors of the night. While this is text-based, I bring strong character voice and tone into my writing to create distinct NPC personalities. Combat in my games is meaningful and dangerous. Enemies are intelligent and motivated, environments matter, and reckless decisions can have consequences. I generally follow the Rules as Written to maintain mechanical clarity and fairness, but I embrace the Rule of Cool when it enhances drama without breaking balance. Creative problem-solving, bold risks, and clever plans are always encouraged and rewarded. This campaign leans into gothic horror, psychological manipulation, moral temptation, and dark themes. Player agency is always respected, meaning you will never be forced into corruption or betrayal, but temptation will be real, and your choices will shape the world around you. Clear posting expectations and safety tools will be discussed at Session 0 to ensure everyone feels comfortable and engaged. Above all, you can expect consistency, communication, fairness, and long-term narrative payoff. This is not just a game about defeating a vampire. It is a story about power, consequence, and what your character becomes when the mists begin to whisper.

How That Witchy DM creates a safe table
Player safety and comfort are a priority at my table, especially in a gothic horror campaign that explores dark themes and psychological tension. Before the game begins, all players will receive a digital Lines & Veils document to complete privately. This allows each person to clearly define hard limits (Lines) and fade-to-black content (Veils) ahead of time. These boundaries are respected without exception. I review all submissions prior to Session 0 and adjust tone and content accordingly to ensure the experience remains immersive without crossing personal limits. During Session 0, we will discuss tone, horror intensity, corruption mechanics, character themes, and narrative expectations. I make it clear that while the story may involve temptation, manipulation, and moral ambiguity, player agency and personal comfort always come first. We will also establish communication norms for Play-by-Post to ensure pacing feels healthy and sustainable. Because this is a Play-by-Post campaign, communication is ongoing and accessible. Players can message me privately at any time if something feels uncomfortable or needs to shift. There is never pressure to explain beyond what you are comfortable sharing. If content needs to be reframed or redirected, I handle it quickly and respectfully. After intense scenes, I check in with the group as needed to make sure everyone feels grounded and comfortable continuing. My goal is to create an environment where players feel safe exploring gothic horror, emotional depth, and moral tension, supported by clear boundaries and open communication. Horror should feel thrilling and immersive, never unsafe.
