About the adventure
Welcome to Hellfire Club- Devil, Metal, Die! From the fires of the Nine Hells rises the infamous Hellfire Dome, a diabolical arena where contestants of ill repute vie for gold and glory. Death, betrayal, and priceless treasures await those who endure the lethal games in the dome, which are spectated by an audience of disorderly fiends. You, an enterprising adventurer who is enticed by the glory, money, or the challenge presented, find yourself pulled to hell and thrust into a series contests that have seen many fall before you. All while scores of devils watch from above, hurling insults, and sometimes fire as you work the crowd. But this is hell after all, and while death can be entertaining, it is not always final. Especially when there are opportunistic devils waiting to strike deals with up and coming contestants. Glory and riches await those who prevail in the Hellfire Dome! Get in on the hype with Stranger Things: Welcome to Hellfire Club! Expect classic ’80s D&D vibes—retro art, the Stranger Things soundtrack, and a high-stakes, nostalgia-charged adventure worthy of the Hellfire Club itself. Choose from five pre-generated heroes inspired by the Club’s iconic characters—like Lady Applejack and Will the Wise—or create your own adventurer using the 2024 rules.

About me
Hi! I started the hobby in 2018 and have been a DM since! I love the hobby and have played it all through university and since working full time. I live in Japan and love traveling, playing board games, having gatherings at my house, and meeting new people. I have taught dnd to dozens of people in my life and have mostly played in person until now. I love roleplaying and helping players get the most out of their choices. I think new players have a great energy and have awesome ideas about what is possible in narrative games! I have run and completed full published campaigns, short campaigns, holiday one shots, and custom games! I love this game and almost always have a home game I am running as well. Can't wait to meet new people and get new awesome memories with this game!

What Matthew brings to the table
You can expect a tight session with room to improvise, an ever moving spotlight so everyone has a chance to speak and help weave the story, and a DM who is on your side and wants to help you succeed. I am not a professional voice actor, but my NPCs have distinct voices and mannerisms. I will stick to the rules in so far as they allow us to tell a cool story, if there is a moment where they get in the way of something we all agree should be possible, then we will go rules of cool all the way! You will also have a DM who is very knowledgable about the rules and has introduced many players to the hobby, most of whom still play to this day. I am happy to help with any step of the process of making your character, learning your abilities and opportunities, and highlighting any danger ahead. I protect my tables from anyone or anything that would be harmful to the players, including other players behavior, content in the adventure, or something that would lead to an foreseeable future problem. We are here to have fun. Lets ALL have fun and protect and encourage each other.

How Matthew creates a safe table
Everyone should be comfortable throughout the entire experience. That includes before, during, and after the game. I will always allow anyone to stop the game narrative to address something that is happening in the game, did happen previously, or could foreseeably happen in the future. To pause the game the player can say the word "X card" or they can type it in the chat for everyone to see. Things change and if any lines or veils need to be adjusted during that campaign that is totally allowed. It can be anything from changing a creature type, creating new table rules in regards to making sure everyone feels respected and safe, or having a conversation with a player who is impacting the game in a negative way for everyone else. I am also a player at the table and will be held to the same standards as everyone else. I will also take full responsibility if I cross any lines or take the narrative in a direction that we don't feel comfortable with.
