Matthew has been my in-person DM for over three years now. We have gone through 3 major campaigns in D&D 5E, and a currently ongoing campaign in the Daggerheart system, as well as a variety of one-shots and shorter-term campaigns in that time. Across this variety of game systems, campaign settings (official and homebrewed), and groups of players, Matthew has maintained a consistent quality among the highest I've experienced in a decade of playing RPGs. He improvises to match both the tone and the inevitably unexpected decisions of the players, keeps everything fun and engaging, and happily explains and negotiates rules when needed. Particularly, he goes out of his way to ensure the players are getting the most possible out of the campaign by ensuring everyone is feeling comfortable participating, supporting brand new players (at least 6 totally new players by my count have joined and loved our major campaigns), and encouraging players to develop backstories and motivations that he strives to integrate into the campaign's story. I highly recommend everyone try Matthew's games, and new players especially will find him an engaging entry point to this hobby.
