About the adventure

Eternal night grips Icewind Dale as Auril the Frostmaiden has plunged the Ten-Towns into endless winter. Fear spreads faster than the cold amongst the desperate settlements as rivalries boil over, creeping madness begins to spread, and something ancient stirs beneath the neverending snow. Rime of the Frostmaiden blends survival horror, mystery, and high-stakes in this frozen adventure. You'll brave blizzards, ancient ruins, and confront secrets that were meant to stay buried. Every choice matters in a land where warmth, trust, and hope are in short supply. Expect meaningful, character-driven storytelling and tough, but fair, challenges in this sandbox adventure. Bundle up - because in Icewind Dale, the cold is only the beginning.

About me

For me, roleplaying games are about shared stories. I build player-driver campaigns where players have room to shape the story through their characters, decisions, and dice rolls. Expect tactical combat, engaging roleplay, and memorable NPCs - for better or worse. My goal is to ensure my players feel seen, invested, and excited to come back each session. I emphasize player agency during my games, responding to the party's interests and play styles. I make sure to balance exciting, challenging combat with opportunities for each character to shine. Whether you're new to roleplaying games or a veteran player, I focus on creating a welcoming table where everyone feels comfortable, engaged, and invested in the adventure. If you're looking for a reliable, story-driven game that captures the classic heroic fantasy experience - heroes rising, legends forming, and rolling some dice - you'll feel right at home at my table.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will use 2024 5e rules for creating characters in this campaign, and players will make their character in DnD Beyond. You will have access to all official character creation options through the campaign link. Character creation rules are as follows: _ The campaign will start at 1st level. - Please use either POINT BUY OR STANDARD ARRAY for ability scores. - 2024 D&D rules, but I will help with converting any legacy content that you may want to use. Very happy to help with any character creation questions you may have.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using discord for voice chat (video is optional). I will share the discord link once you join the campaign. You will also want to have a working microphone that is able to connect to Discord. You'll need to create a free Roll20 account to join the campaign. Again, I will share the link to the Roll20 campaign once you join the campaign. Feel free to message me on Startplaying if you have any questions!

Safety

How Garrett B. creates a safe table

My players' safety and fun is my number 1 priority as a DM. Safety tools are critical in creating a comfortable atmosphere for everyone at the table. We will go over safety tools in session 0 and ensure everyone is aware of how to use them throughout the game. I make sure to check in with my players before, during, and after the game. Players will also be able to privately share their lines and veils, and the X card can be played in multiple ways as a resource for the players' safety. Fostering a game where we can build community while rolling dice is critical to the success of each of my sessions.
