About me
🕯️ Hi, I’m Alex. I enjoy patiently listening to how players think, react, and talk their way through slow-burn mystery games set in small towns with secrets. My games sometimes include supernatural elements and unsettling moments, but player agency always comes first. I’m most interested in how characters interpret incomplete information and what they choose to prioritize under pressure. 🗝️ My tables are roleplay-heavy and combat-light, focused on atmosphere, character interaction, and consequences rather than performance or spectacle. 📼 If you’d like a sense of how my games feel in practice, here’s a short, unedited clip from an actual play session: https://youtu.be/3kQ_RMGdwGg

Creating your character
Characters are created on D&D Beyond using official D&D 5e rules (2014 or 2024). We use Standard Array - this keeps the party balanced and the stakes meaningful. New to D&D? There’s a short, beginner-friendly step-by-step guide on our Discord. It takes about 10 minutes. I’m also happy to answer questions and help tie your character to the world before Session 1.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before Session 1, you’ll need: • A character sheet on D&D Beyond • The AboveVTT browser extension (Chrome or Firefox) • A stable microphone and headphones • Webcam is welcome, but voice-only is completely fine Setup links and a short, step-by-step walkthrough are available on the game’s Discord server. If you’re new to online play, I’ll help you get everything working before we start.
What Alex Lantz brings to the table
• Distinct in-character NPC voices (no caricatures) • Ambient sound and music used with intention • Clear tactical maps, location artwork, and short visual inserts • A world that reacts to your decisions, not a script • 15–20 minutes after each session to reflect and discuss (optional)
Homebrew rules
I primarily follow the official D&D 5e rules (2014/2024). During play, rulings may be made quickly to maintain flow. After the session, we can review any rule calmly and adjust if needed. The priority is a smooth, focused game - not rulebook debates mid-scene. Respectful rules discussions are welcome.

Safety
How Alex Lantz creates a safe table
I handle player comfort through clear communication and mutual respect at the table. I use a simple, low-friction approach to safety tools. Players can speak up during play or message me privately on Discord at any time. If a pause or adjustment is needed, we take a short break and move on without drawing unnecessary attention to the issue.
