About the adventure

Your hometown of Elmore has survived for generations on the frontier thanks to an ancient creation deep in the Plover Caves: the Lure. It is a mysterious force that draws the most dangerous creatures in the region down under the earth. Now the Lure is fading. Monsters that once vanished into the depths are creeping closer to the roads and fields. Elmore has become mostly isolated so they cannot rely on the Duchess for help. To keep the town safe, you will venture underground into a sprawling cavern system where deeper levels reveals stranger biomes, deadlier hunts, and secrets that the old stone has kept for ages. You are a villager with humble origins who will grow into the role of a hero as they traverse the caverns below. Harvest what you can from the monsters you hunt, the plants and flowers your discover, and then cook and share meals that turn hard won victories into community moments. The group can work together to create a original in-game recipe book based on collected ingredients that reflects the progress of their journey and the challenges that have been overcome. The caverns are treated as a hybrid of wilderness exploration and a massive dungeon crawl. The deeper you go, the more the world changes. This campaign is tweaked away from an anime leaning tone into something slightly more mature and weighty while still keeping the humor, warmth, and the larger than life NPCs. You might return to Elmore often, but you may also spend long stretches below, living off what you hunt and learning from the gruff cavern communities that have adapted to life underground. Over time the experience can change your characters, and you will get to feel the contrast between who you become in the depths and the villagers of Elmore who still measure life by seasons, stories, and the hope that the Lure will hold. Greetings! I am a moderately experienced GM who has a love for fantasy/Sci-Fi and a fascination with horror. I give a great thanks to my uncle who started my nerd path by introducing me to TV shows like Masters of the Universe and videogames like Sacred, King's field, Eternal Ring, Diablo, Elder Scrolls and much more! He cultivated an ever growing sense for exploration and wonder and I strive to recreate that feeling for my players in my games so they can remain in touch with their inner child! I have spent most my time as a GM and homebrewing content across various systems such as Dungeons and Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 2e, Call of Cthulhu, Kids on Bikes, and Daggerheart. Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen before the first session and will be finalized in sessions 0. There will be discussions amongst the players and the DM to see what the vibe is and so that I can do the best to make sure we are all satisfied and ready to experience a good story. Starting level is 1 and all character sheets will be made on Demiplane; I will show you how to use it if you are unfamiliar. You are all from a humble origin from the village of Elmore and your character should reflect such. You do not need to be originally from there because there is a huge world at your fingertips! I would love to discuss more! Reference the Daggerheart Core Rules and the Beast Feast Campaign frame during character creation. There is some tweaks with the frame itself that I will divulge with you. This is not an evil campaign so no evil characters!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

First and most important, come in with a collaborative mindset and be enthusiastic for story telling and meeting your fellow players! Afterwards, ensure you have an account with Discord, Owlbear Rodeo, and Demiplane. I will invite you to the server and there we will be handling voice chat as well as going over things pre-game in the text channels. This is also the best way to reach me during our games, if not an email.

How Jay creates a safe table

We will go over content that we feel is appropriate at the table as well as GM and player conduct. We will contribute to making a list of group norms that all of us will abide by. After games I always ask if there are any questions, comments, or concerns. If you do not want to announce such in front of the group, I can pull you aside for a private conversation or you can message me. The X card can be announced or messaged to me privately. Be sure that I will be able to see or hear this and and we will address the issue accordingly. The comfort of the group is top priority over EVERYTHING. Full stop, no exceptions.
