About the adventure
Lost in the Library is a gothic fantasy adventure set within the labyrinthine halls and passageways of an ancient and venerable magical college. Journey to the Shadeveil College, where an old friend has invited you to a lecture from a controversial professor. He claims to have discovered the origins of magic and of the Elves, but what is he hiding, and why is everyone around you looking so sleepy? Shadeviel is full of mysteries and secrets waiting to be discovered as the night becomes something far darker and more sinister than you could have possibly imagined.

About me
I'm Rob, I've been DMing for friends for the last 7 years and for paying tables for the last 2. At my table, I believe we are all there to tell a collective story together. I encourage good-natured roleplay and respectful humour so everyone can feel they are part of the team. With a background in creative writing and improv comedy, I offer a table where the story captures your imagination, and even the daftest jokes help tell the story we're telling together.

Creating your character
Using 2024 rules, I will offer six pre-gen characters for the players to choose from. These will be created with combat and social interactions in mind, so they should feel like they fit within the story we're telling. If you'd like to create your own character, please provide the character sheet in advance so I can review it and tailor it to our purposes.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be using Discord and D&D Beyond as well as Beyond VTT function. Invites to a server will be sent out a day in advance of the session for some session 0 discussions and to allow players to discuss the adventure beforehand.
What Rob brings to the table
My approach to Game Mastering is centred on collaborative storytelling. Expect an emphasis on roleplay, with rich narration, distinct character voices (including some silly ones!), and fast-paced, occasionally brutal combat. I ensure a sense of fair play and encourage player experimentation in all encounters.

How Rob creates a safe table
A pre-session 0 will take place that will outline major themes in the adventure and discuss player boundaries. All of these will be taken on board, and the adventure will be adapted to meet these specifications. During the session, we will operate a red flag rule where if something, either I, the GM, or another player crosses a line, you may raise a red flag, and we immediately take a five-minute break to discuss the matter either publicly or privately.
