About the adventure

You play as an Edgerunner, a freelance operator taking risky jobs in a neon-lit future where the powerful don’t get their hands dirty, they hire people like you. This is beginner-friendly. You will choose from prepared characters, and I will teach the rules as we go. Expect a mix of investigation, tense choices, and a bit of action, with plenty of guidance so you can focus on the story rather than the rulebook. At the start you vote on one of two Gen Con 2025 missions. Either you are hired by a desperate executive to recover their partner’s legacy from a facility outside the city, or you are in the middle of a car chase, trying to get a stolen digital key back to your fixer, the person who finds you work and pays you on time. Experienced players are welcome too, it’s a tight one-shot with a clear objective and a proper Cyberpunk feel. I’ll keep us moving so your one-shot is well and truly shot.

About me

Hello, I am Peter, a professional Game Master and storyteller with more than thirty years of experience in tabletop roleplaying. I focus on clear structure, steady pacing, and story driven play that gives every player room to shine. Through my work on Hollowponds Solo Sagas, and as a published game author whose works include Single Player Mode for R. Talsorian’s Cyberpunk Red and several roleplaying tools and guides, I have developed a consistent style that blends character focused storytelling with solid rules support. My tables are welcoming, organised, and calm, with guidance for new players and space for experienced players to push the story forward. What you can expect from my games: • Smooth pacing and clear communication • A friendly relaxed atmosphere • Fair challenges that respect player agency • Strong story focus supported by the system • Reliable scheduling and preparation About me: I have worked as a teacher, a developer, and a Scrum Master, all of which help me run focused and respectful sessions. I am a trained Mental Health First Aider and pay close attention to accessibility and the needs of neurodiverse players. My goal is always to create a table where everyone feels able to contribute. I run a range of systems including Daggerheart, Cyberpunk Red, Coriolis, Dragonbane, Savage Worlds, and more, and I tailor each session to the tone and pace the group enjoys. You are welcome to see how I run games here: https://www.youtube.com/@HollowpondsSoloSagas

Character creation

Creating your character

You will use pre-generated characters. Character creation will not happen during the session or beforehand. At the start we’ll do a quick pick: choose a pre-gen. I’ll walk you through your key stats, skills, gear, and what you can do in a turn. No books required, everything is provided. Then, after a brief introduction to safety tools, we’ll jump straight in.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Make sure you can join our Discord before the game (I’ll send the invite after you sign up). Please install Fantasy Grounds Unity (it’s free). You can get it via Steam or the Fantasy Grounds website. You’ll also need a headset and mic (or a mic plus speakers). A webcam is welcome because seeing faces helps, but it’s not required. That’s it. If you’d like, I can help you get Discord and Fantasy Grounds working before the session so you can jump straight into the game.

What Hollowponds (Peter) brings to the table

Now you know what’s expected of you, here’s what you can expect from me. I bring four decades of TTRPG experience, and I’ve written for R. Talsorian Games (the publishers of Cyberpunk). That means you’ll get a GM who knows the setting and can deliver the tone and feel of Cyberpunk RED without you needing to. My style is character-first and new-player friendly. I like making the world feel alive, so you can expect distinct NPCs, a few voices, and clear scene framing so you always know what’s happening and what your options are. I don’t use background music or sound, so everything stays clear and easy to follow. If you want a sense of what my GM style is like before you sign up, you can look up my YouTube channel, Hollowponds Solo Sagas, where I run story-forward games and focus on keeping play moving. Rules-wise, I lean towards cool over rule. If you describe something brilliant and it fits the moment, I’ll help you make it happen. I’ll keep the game moving, keep things fair, and work with you to create a great one-shot story together.

Homebrew rules

I don’t use any major homebrew rules for this game. We’ll play rules as written. That said, because this is a one-shot, I’ll prioritise flow. If a rule lookup would slow us down, I’ll make a quick, fair call, keep the scene moving, and we’ll check it properly after the session if needed.

Safety

How Hollowponds (Peter) creates a safe table

This is a one-shot with contained content, but player safety still comes first. At the start of the session we’ll do a quick Lines and Veils check so everyone knows what is off-limits, and what should be handled gently. During play you can message me privately at any time on Discord if something feels off. We also use an open door approach, you can take a break or step away at any time, no questions asked. We’ll use simple safety signals in Discord. Message me X to stop and rewind, N to steer away, and O to confirm you’re okay. If anything crosses a line, we’ll fade to black, adjust, and carry on. I’m neurodivergent, and I aim to create a comfortable, accepting space where everyone can play in the way that suits them.
