About the adventure
Where to start? Well, you’ll need to have a sense of humour and enjoy it lightly toasted, with little burnt bits. Otherwise, nothing will make sense. Have you read any of Pratchett’s Discworld novels?* Some might say one’s not enough, but I feel one is enough to get a taste, and the rest is up to you. If you didn’t laugh once whilst reading your first Discworld, that really is okay… and I feel it’s been nice to meet you and please do try another of my adventures. You’ll decide which Guild you'll belong to, or maybe Wizards & Witches, or the City Watch. Then decide on the character you’ll play, and there really is a lot of wiggle room. Together we'll be swept along by the Narrativium** and I’m sure the shenanigans, will see Death having words with you. As they say, the world is your oyster, but best not eaten if it comes from the River Ankh. * You can even find them in a second hand book stores, if you can find a book store with a second hand. ** This is the magic that powers the Disc. Bi-weekly sessions to be decided. Once there are three or more signed up, I'll run session if only two players can make it. Lets not forget more the merrier so feel free to drop in for a single session or stay longer. First session planned for: Tuesday 10th March.

About me
I’m known as Japes (jay-ps) IRL, which is a nickname based on my given name, Jean-Paul. My daughter Abi, is in the LGBT community and seeing her now, as she and her partner buy a house together, makes me feel really proud of what she’s achieved. I feel that every game should be a safe place for all of us to be who we are, and try something that might be seen as ‘off the wall’. I’ve loved the escapism that TTRPGs offer ever since I first GM’d D&D as a child. Since then, I’ve played many different systems and learned one thing above all else: these games are at their best when everyone is having fun. That first game I ran for a group of friends was an interesting experience, and much has improved since then. Please do thank the multiverse of gods that’s true. My initial online games started in 2020, and what began as a single table quickly grew into many. Some of those players, are still playing in my games years later. My favourite D&D character idea is a fairy barbarian who’ll fly over the heads of friends and growl at the enemy, who’d better not laugh at her… So do bring your curiosity, your creativity, and whatever character excites you most to the table, whether that’s a 1920s Black female FBI agent in Call of Cthulhu, something made from sapient pearwood in Discworld, or some bonkers D&D character. Your character is the gateway to your adventure, and I’m here to see you enjoy it.

Creating your character
Characters are very easy to setup and you'll be playing in under 20mins. What you will need to do, is have an idea of something that you'd like to play that would fit in the Discworld Novels. Dwarfs, Gargoyles, Gnomes, Goblin, ,Golems, Human, Nac Mac Feegle, Troll, Vampires, Werewolves and Elves (they're nasty so maybe not). Not forgetting playing as talking animals, or being made of Sapient Pearwood. All I ask is that your character is unique. For example being a Sapient Pearwood Spoon would work, but not "The Luggage".
What to expect
Preparing for the session
• A reliable PC, with a Chrome browser. • A working gaming headset or microphone and headphones. • Free accounts for: Discord and ForgeVTT. Links after joining. • I'll be 'on camera' and ask everyone to do likewise, it makes for a friendlier game.
What Japes brings to the table
• New Player friendly. Be that first time to Discworld or role playing. • I’ll bring some voices to the table. I'm no walking Encyclopaedia of the Discworld books. Mainly as I've not read them all -I see the shocked look on your face- but will role play many of characters you'll know. • Light background music, the volume is controllable by you. • A sprinkle of dry humour that some have said, feels like it fell out of a book.

Safety
How Japes creates a safe table
• I provide a fun gaming environment filled with unexpected twists and turns, that will keep you guessing as to where things go next. To do this well, safety is a priority. • We'll be using the "Deck of Player Safety". • I embrace inclusivity for all players at the table. The ism’s are to be left at the door. Should it arise I'll deal with it quickly. • We’ll have a break for 5 to 10 mins half way through the session. Time to top up drinks and snacks. • Content Warning of Death... You never known when he'll show up on Binky.
