About the adventure

Your crew of scoundrels gathers round a stolen blueprint as they plan their big score. Their target has them outnumbered and outgunned; they’re just a no-name street gang up against the rich and powerful. But they have something their mark never expects: the stone-cold audacity and guts to risk everything. And perhaps even more than that: the desperate hunger to get rich or die trying. After you and a few other criminals, con-men and ne'er do wells are brought in for questioning about a crime you (probably) had nothing to do with, you are approached by a mysterious benefactor. The Offer: use the skills you've earned over a life misspent to bring down the ones who think they can get away with anything, and protect the everyday folks from being the ones caught in the crossfire. Your first mission will also just happen to make fools of the people who dragged you all in... What to Expect: - This is a City Sandbox game, using the City of Waterdeep as a homebase, with missions that will take the crew across this world and several of the ones beyond. Your crew will have its own head quarters where you will be able to launch downtime activities between jobs. - Your Character will have a significant impact on the story. The campaign is planned to have opportunities for you to give your character an arc and for me to implement elements of your backstory into the plot. - This campaign will have elements from multiple published adventures, especially Keys from the Golden Vault and Waterdeep: Dragon Heist. It will also have many adjustments to that content, the setting and lore. Great for veterans or those new to the setting.

About me

Greetings, fellow travelers, my name is Leland and I am a Storyteller and Game Master with experience in TTRPG's, Live Action Role Play and writing. Thanks so much for checking out my profile and considering me to be your GM: whether you are a beginner at sitting down at a TTRPG table, or the most grizzled of veterans pulled in for one more "last job" I look forward to making a memorable experience with you! For me the passion for gaming started back in jr. high, over twenty years ago. I loved how much more immersed and interactive a roleplaying game was compared to the board games and video games I grew up playing. The love for the hobby followed me into university where I created a school sponsored organization celebrating all types of gaming and dedicated to bringing together a community of folks passionate to engage! Since then, I've helped tables as a GM to develop that same community aspect. A place where you don't just show up and leave on time like some 9-5 job, you're here to make memories with some awesome players who love the game as much as you. No matter who you are or what you believe, let's have fun together and see our heroes in exciting action against mighty foes! Can't wait to see you at the table!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters can be developed and finalized during or before Session 0: -Use the linked DND Beyond Campaign to create your characters, which I will upload into Foundry. -We are using the 2024 ruleset, with backwards compatibility for expanded rules content. All WOTC content is allowed, 3rd party or partnered content must be approved before it can be used. -Abilities set using Point Buy, HP set to Fixed, Leveling set to Milestone. Starting Equipment or average gold buy for gear -Characters will begin at Level 3, expecting to end the campaign at Level 20 During Session 0 we will go over some unique characteristics to your character as well as discussing your goals and backstory. Your character should have goals for the future as well as connections to others, NPC's, your fellow PC's, etc.

Safety

How Leland Palmer creates a safe table

Prior to session 0 I will forward an RPG consent checklist, which will allow me to curate your experience and avoid sensitive topics. During that session we can discuss specifics further and help to facilitate everyone's enjoyment. The most important tool for safety is communication and I am open before, after and between sessions to address any concerns or opportunities.
