About the adventure

Welcome to Strixhaven: School of Mages, where magical potential meets academic drama, wild campus adventures, and the spark of self-discovery. You’ll play as students enrolled at the most prestigious university of magic in the multiverse. Each of the five colleges—Lorehold, Prismari, Quandrix, Silverquill, and Witherbloom—has its own magical philosophy, eccentric professors, and secret rivalries. Between exams, extracurricular clubs, magical duels, and mysterious campus happenings, your character will grow not just in power, but in personality and purpose. This campaign blends slice-of-life roleplay with fantasy mystery, offering a unique mix of school drama, romance, magical hijinks, and high-stakes danger. Expect a tone that shifts from cozy and comedic to heartfelt and adventurous as deeper threats begin to unfold beneath the ivy-covered halls of Strixhaven. Whether you're here to ace your classes, stir up trouble at Mage Tower games, or uncover the truth behind ancient arcane forces, your journey will be uniquely yours. My GMing style is narrative-forward, collaborative, and character-driven. I love helping players explore their characters’ growth, relationships, and backstories while still delivering the fun of wild spell-slinging encounters and meaningful choices. All experience levels are welcome—whether you’re new to D&D or a veteran, there’s a seat for you at this magical table.

About me

🎲 Story-First DM | Theater Kid Energy ✨ Hey, I’m Kass (she/her), 27, Black/Native queer gendered! I’m a forever-theater-kid turned forever-DM with five years of TTRPG experience and a deep love for collaborative, character-driven storytelling. As a proud member of the National Thespian Society and an experienced roleplayer, I bring immersive narration, expressive NPCs, Nostalgic worlds and emotionally rich narratives to every table I run. Whether you’re a veteran player or brand new to TTRPGs, my games are a safe, inclusive space where story, emotion, and fun are the top priority. I run everything from cozy slice-of-life oneshots to long-form plot-heavy campaigns with twists, secrets, and soul. If you’re ready to roleplay, get a little dramatic, and dive into a world that reacts to your choices, I’d love to be your DM!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen before the first session, and I’ll be here to guide you every step of the way. We’ll be starting at Level 1, giving you space to grow your character both in story and gameplay as you rise through the tournament ranks. Stats will be generated using Point Buy or Standard Array — whichever you prefer — to keep things balanced for a party starting fresh. Characters will be built in D&D Beyond, and I’ll send out a campaign link with access to relevant options, including some homebrew features designed just for this world. Don’t worry if you’re new — I’ll help you get set up with something cool and effective. Allowed Books & Sources: All official 5e content is allowed (with a few exceptions to preserve the setting vibe — ex: no traditional cowboy-style gunslingers, but cyber-snipers, modded warlocks, and glitch druids? Absolutely). Homebrew is welcome — just run it by me first to make sure it fits the tone and system balance.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

To get ready for the game, please complete the following steps before Session 1: 🎧 Join the Discord Server This is where all communication, scheduling, announcements, and roleplay extras will happen. I’ll send the invite link once you book! 🧙 Create a Character on D&D Beyond You’ll use D&D Beyond to build and manage your character sheet. I’ll provide a campaign link so you have access to the homebrew content and rules we'll be using. 🌐 Install the Beyond20 Browser Extension This connects your D&D Beyond sheet to Roll20 for seamless dice rolls and spellcasting. It’s free and easy to install for Chrome or Firefox. 🎲 Set Up a Roll20 Account We’ll be using Roll20 for our virtual tabletop — maps, combat, visuals, and more. Make sure you’ve got an account and have joined the game lobby (invite link will be provided).

What Kass brings to the table

✨ An Immersive, Story-Driven World You’ll be stepping into a magic multiverse university setting filled with style, mystery, and high-stakes storytelling. Expect rich lore, evolving plotlines, dynamic factions, and choices that actually impact the world. 🎙️ Character Voices, Music, and Ambience I use character voices, sound effects, and curated music playlists to set the tone — whether you’re chilling in a neon-soaked club or squaring off in a deadly glitch arena. 🎮 Rule of Cool with a Respect for Balance I love cinematic moments, clever tactics, and badass ideas — and I’ll always reward creative thinking. I use 5e as the foundation, but I'm not afraid to bend the rules a bit for drama, humor, or hype. Mechanics serve the story, not the other way around. 🎭 A Heavy Roleplay Table with Space for Character Arcs Whether you're here for epic action or emotional moments, I create space for your character’s growth, relationships, and backstory. Found family energy is welcome. So is emotional damage. 🧠 Player Support & Onboarding New to 5e or homebrew? No worries. I’ll guide you through character creation, mechanics, and how to look cool doing it. I’m here to make sure you shine.

⚙️ Failing Forward Failure doesn’t always mean nothing happens — sometimes it means something worse, weirder, or narratively juicy kicks off. Miss a hack? Maybe the firewall triggers a security bot. Your choices matter, even when the dice don’t play nice.

Safety

How Kass creates a safe table

Player Safety & Comfort: Creating a safe, respectful, and enjoyable space for everyone is my top priority. I want you to feel empowered, included, and excited to play — both in and out of character. 🛡️ Session 0 Before the campaign begins, we’ll have a full Session 0 to go over tone, expectations, group dynamics, character concepts, and boundaries. This is where we’ll collaboratively set the vibe — from how intense the drama gets to what’s totally off-limits. 📚 Lines & Veils + Safety Tools Deck All players will receive a Lines & Veils form (digitally shared and private) to note any hard or soft boundaries. We'll also use a digital safety tools deck that includes the X, N, and O system to check in during play. X = No, stop immediately N = I’m not loving this, please shift the scene O = I’m good, even if this is intense These can be typed in chat, held up on camera, or sent privately via DM depending on player preference. ⭐ Stars & Wishes At the end of sessions, we’ll use the Stars & Wishes method — giving players a chance to share what they loved, and what they hope to explore next. This helps keep the game emotionally rewarding and collaborative. 🕒 Breaks Regular short breaks will be built into every session. Anyone can call for a break at any time — no need to explain why. If none is called we will have our biobreak in the middle of the session 💬 Aftercare & Open Communication My DMs are always open. If a scene hit wrong, something felt off, or you just want to talk about your character’s arc — I’m here. Debriefing and decompressing is totally encouraged, whether it’s game-related or not.
