About the adventure

In the lawless Border Princes, far from emperors and elector counts, something new is stirring. A small and little-known cult whispers of a deity yet to be. Its presence is not felt through commandment or edict. Instead, it is experienced through its unnatural and anomalous effects. Wherever this entity’s influence spreads, connections are severed. Gods lose their hold on worshippers. Monsters act on higher reasoning than their common instincts. Souls long claimed by higher powers begin to act of their own will. You are among those freed. Once bound by faith, corruption, domination, or fate itself, you now walk without a master. Former cultists who remember what they were made to do. Orcs who, although they enjoy a good krumpin’, live for more than war. Undead without a controlling will, but equally without purpose. The world does not see this as redemption. It sees danger, heresy, and things that should not exist. This is a player-driven sandbox campaign set in the Border Princes (and playing very loose with canon). Survival horror, investigation, monster-hunting, and frontier politics all play a role. You may carve out influence, form alliances, explore ancient ruins, expand the cult, or even found a principality. You may also reject power entirely. No authority dictates your path, and the entity who granted your freedom makes no demands of you. Your choices will shape what this unborn god becomes, if it becomes anything at all. This campaign focuses on defiance and consequence. Freedom exists here, but it offers no safety and no absolution. Survival is uncertain, and the future is shaped only by what you are willing to claim.

About me

Hey, I'm Jeremy! I've been playing all kinds of TTRPGs for about 15 years now. I enjoy the fantasy dungeon-oriented games like Pathfinder and D&D, but I *love* fast action systems like Savage Worlds. Teaching players new games is sincerely a joy for me. I'm secretly trying to increase the amount I game and am using the money from this as an excuse to do so. Onward!

Character creation

Creating your character

Some preliminary work may be done beforehand, but characters will be finalized together during Session 0 to ensure concepts fit the campaign premise and party. The standard Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4th Edition character creation process will be used. However, many tables and options will be modified or expanded to support nonstandard characters. This includes alternative species, career tables, etc. The underlying mechanics remain unchanged. All official WFRP 4e material is permitted. Additional homebrew content for the setting is available, and I am open to creating new material for character concepts that fit the setting. Characters should be compatible with the campaign premise and capable of working with the group. Concepts tied to rigid institutions, formal knightly orders, or uncompromising religious hierarchies are unlikely to be appropriate.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players must join the campaign’s Discord server for voice communication and scheduling. The game will be played using Foundry Virtual Tabletop. All required WFRP 4e system content is provided, and no purchases are necessary. No prior experience with Foundry is required. A working microphone is required. Webcams will not be used. No preparation is required before Session 0 unless discussed in advance.

What Jeremy brings to the table

I run games with a strong respect for rules and structure. I use the system as written as a foundation, but I will make house rulings or temporary decisions when needed to keep play moving. These rulings are made to support clarity and consistency, not to override the system. Combat is dangerous and gritty. Violence is mutual, enemies act to survive, and poor decisions carry consequences. At the same time, I am firmly on the players’ side. NPCs pursue their goals honestly, but meta-level decisions generally favor the player characters when it makes sense to do so. I use character voices and ambient elements where appropriate, but expectations should be realistic. You will hear the same few voices reused, and I will certainly forget which voice belonged to whom at least a few times. A voice actor, I am not. I spend a great deal of time worldbuilding and enjoy politics, mystery, and investigation. While this campaign includes a strong exploration and combat focus, players should expect secrets to uncover, factions to navigate, and deeper truths about the setting to emerge through play.

Homebrew rules

This campaign uses a small set of house rules and optional systems to support narrative progression, nonstandard characters, and long-term play. Career advancement is tied to narrative opportunity. Characters are expected to have in-world reasons for changing careers or advancing to new levels, and appropriate trappings are required in a flexible, common-sense way. Some restrictions on talent progression are relaxed to avoid unnecessary delays in character development. Corruption uses an alternate system designed to preserve uncertainty and reduce mechanical spoilers. Several optional rules from official WFRP 4e supplements are in use, particularly those affecting combat, injury, and magic. All rules adjustments are applied consistently and documented. New house rules may be introduced during play to address recurring situations or improve clarity. Full rule details will be provided in the Discord server and discussed in Session 0.

Safety

How Jeremy creates a safe table

A Lines and Veils document will be shared via Google Drive and reviewed during Session 0. A digital X-Card module will be available during play and may be used at any time without explanation. This table is LGBTQ+ friendly and welcoming to neurodiverse and culturally diverse players. Bigotry, harassment, or discrimination of any kind are not tolerated. Players are expected to treat one another with respect. Open communication is encouraged before and after sessions. Concerns or boundary adjustments may be raised at any time.
