About the adventure
Welcome to the frozen north! I'm Shaun, a passionate dungeon master with a love for storytelling. Icewind Dale is a land of harsh cold, deadly wildlife, and mystery around every corner. The land has been cursed by Auril the Frostmaiden, and each of the Ten-towns make sacrifices to appease her. The sun does not rise, making the climate dangerous to navigate due to weather, visibility, and creatures of the night. Prepare to cozy up to the fire and get ready for adventure! New to D&D? Perfect. Grab a blanket and a d20 — I’ll guide you through your first adventure, whether you’re a fresh-faced adventurer or a veteran looking for a chill (pun intended) challenge. Icewind dale welcomes all, but only the strong survive!

About me
I'm Shaun, a very invested and player-focused DM. I've DMed for several groups over the years, and been a player as well. I have preferred being a DM because of how invested I get when I play D&D and I want to build an entire world for my players. I enjoy DMing for new players as well as anyone who just seems enthusiastic to play every week and has a sense of wonder and intrigue. I am very open minded to all homebrew subclasses and items within reason. Overall I'm just very passionate for D&D and would love to play with a long term group as passionate as I am!

Creating your character
All characters will start at level one. We will use point buy system for stats. Make sure your characters fit into icewind dale in some way. Whether they travelled here or grew up here, they all need a purpose. Feel free to reach out to me about help with backstories. I am very open to allowing any classes as long as they are balanced and make sense. I am open to homebrew if desired as well. I will assist with any questions as well. I prefer to use DNDBeyond for character sheets but Roll20 may be necessary as well.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Be sure to join our discord server for the voice call. Cameras are not necessary. We will use DndBeyond and Roll20 for our games.
What Shaun brings to the table
I will utilize ambient music based on the setting, voice npcs to the best of my (limited) ability, embrace the rule of cool and giving the players their own personal spotlights. I love seeing teamwork and creativity be rewarded so I will be sure to make it worthwhile to go all in. I want all of my players to feel useful and seen in every session. I will be sure to answer any questions as needed so don't be shy if you need help during a session.

We will vote on several quality of life rules before we play, and do the same if we encounter them live.

How Shaun creates a safe table
I will message each player individually about personal lines and veils to prevent discomfort. In session zero we will cover the topic and at any time during a session players are free to message me or vocally use a safe word to avoid an uncomfortable situation.
