About the adventure

It's the year 5104 and Earth is twice-baked-over. After decades of strife and war where humanity wrestled against the compulsion to declare itself 'what the universe was made for and should bend to', a united humanity has emerged -- bent but unbroken into a period of relative peace and uneven welfare. The tools of former oppressors and fallen regimes have either been turned to do better works (for example, the tree-to-skyscraper-scale walking armored chassis elite pilots called LANCERs pilot) or lie scattered across the universe as the Third Committee does its best to write the manifold wrongs of the anthrochauvanist 'Sec-Comm'. But the embers of the raging fires of the past have still not gone out. Amongst the vastness of space, the locations of the colonies of the fallen second committee have become lost to time and space -- and one has been recently rediscovered. Having had its own revolt against the authoritarian rule installed upon it, the planet Cressidium wishes to join the Third Committee and its new and united series of planets and nations: 'Union'. You are part of the Union delegation responding to this request and evaluation -- but tensions are high on the surface. As recent graduates of the UNION//LANCER Pilot Program, you and the rest of the 42nd Mobile Chassis Unit aboard the UNS Rio Grande are charged with any emergency response required. This mission was supposed to be a cakewalk; an 'easy win' to cement and help polish off your training. But the tide of war is not something so easily stopped -- and even LANCERs can break upon it. Fire ripples below. The sky is torn asunder above. Can you take the heat, LANCER? This epic campaign is designed for players of any level of experience to LANCER and spans Operation Solstice Rain into Operation Winter Scar with custom missions inserted between the standards. The fate of Cressidium will lie in your hands in a sprawling, likely half-year-to-year long epic series of fights. If you love mecha, from Armored Core to Gundam, you will *love* LANCER.

About me

Writer, actor, professional game creator, and all-around "semi-pro" Storyteller! I wear many hats and do a lot of things; some may call me a jack of all trades. But the oldest, fondest, hat in my closet that I never completely take off is the hat of 'forever DM'. I'm very fond of opportunities to tell odd stories and I particularly love telling stories as a group activity. Paid DMing allows me to tell tales and do prepwork I wouldn't normally have the time for; given the opportunity, I'd be happy to work full time on it. For me, the title of 'forever DM' isn't a nag -- it's a commitment!

Character creation

Creating your character

Do all character creation on this website: https://compcon.app/#/ Players will be License Level 0 and we'll do check-ups as part of our first session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please message me on StartPlaying to receive a link to the game's Discord server; we'll be doing using it for voice, OOC, and coordination. Rules for play can be found here: https://massif-press.itch.io/corebook-pdf-free

What Fate brings to the table

* Hours of licensed, royalty-free, music specifically customized for the three operations of this campaign. * Isometric hex-grid maps, some of them hand-built and custom. * Resources for you to source and customize your character and mech art. * Much more lenient licensing and relicensing rules for the introductory operation and its sequel to let players feel out and experience more of the system within the bounds of the campaign. * Mostly RAW except for cinematic moments and skill checks, which may be much more ROC.

Homebrew rules

This campaign will be using the LANCER "NPCs Rebaked" (including the variant NPC structure damage overhaul) and LANCER "Enhanced Combat" rulebooks. Effectively, you can expect a larger diversity in Reserves and balance tweaks which increase the complexity of NPCs while reducing the need for as much cover-play.

Safety

How Fate creates a safe table

While building characters, I will be asking for what Lines and Veils the table would like to have. I hold a segment at the end of all my sessions where concerns can be voiced and the lines/veils further adjusted/modified session-to-session (you can also call out mid-session if something arises).
