About the adventure

The game is perfect for those who want a fun, open ended quest that can literally change the world around us. The evens of this story will forever impact no just this campaign, but future campaigns in my take on the Forgotten Realms. We need heroes up for the challenge to save not just this city, but the entire material plane from this sort of thing becoming the new normal.

About me

I have been playing some sort of TTRPG since 2003. I've been a GM for the vast number of those years. I got my B.A. in graphic design and game design and took acting classes in college. I've done a little bit of everything to become a pretty well rounded DM. Like a bard, I'm a jack of all trades, master at none. My games are often focused on some light humor and word play. I will often insert a joke to lighten the mood, but when the moment needs to be serious, I will give it room to breath. My tables can be challenging as I do appreciate a tactical game, however I will focus on playing fair. So as long as my players aren't being too self destructive, and utilizing the full breath of their abilities, they won't normally have any issues with my combats. Finally, my games are open minded and welcoming. All sorts are welcome and should feel at home. Taboos are respected and will be avoided if requested. No one should feel uncomfortable at my table unless that's the sort of game they want to play in. I am an adult and will run an adult game, however, I respect if anyone wishes to avoid any given topic or theme.

Character creation

Creating your character

This will be using the 2024 rules of Dungeon's and Dragons 5e. Character creation will follow all the basic rules, and all official D&D products that are designed for forgotten realms setting are allowed. This means older content like Fizban's or Tasha's will be accepted, but the MTG books or the Ebberon books won't be without approval first. This also includes any homebrew, which I will allow only upon request. Stats will be point buy, starting at level 1. There will be a session 0 to make sure everyone has their characters ready for when the game officially starts.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You must have access to the following: You will need a Dndbeyond account. A discord account as the game will be played through Discord. That is basically all you will need to play this game

What Herb brings to the table

I will be running through Dndbeyond and as such have access to almost it's entire library of books. This means you should have access to everything you need to make your character. I also will include Avast in the discord server to help role dice if/when needed or preferred.

Homebrew rules

There are a few homebrew rules that will be brought up during session 0. An example as such is the legendary stand action for downed PC's. This gives a PC who has hit 0hp, the ability to give another PC a legendary action on their turn. This give the pc something to do besides just a death save on their turn, and encourages teamwork and epic moments. I also frequently make homebrew magic items, spells and subclasses that my players are allowed to use freely.

Safety

How Herb creates a safe table

Between session 0 and session 1, I will interview one on one each person to go over anything that is fine to cover, use with discretion or are simply off limits. I will also have an open door policy in play so that if something they didn't realize would come up, or forgot to mention can be addressed right away and avoided going forward. Open dialog is key and making sure no one feels like they can't reach out to me over such things.
