About the adventure

This campaign is a return to classic Tuesday night chaos: friends, character driven stories, and the kind of moments you only get when the dice go completely off the rails. Players will create real world characters set in the early 2000s, people just like us before smartphones, social media, and constant connectivity. From that familiar time, you’re suddenly ripped from modern life and dropped into the Forgotten Realms. You don’t start as heroes. You become them. Skills, instincts, flaws, and choices all matter as you learn how to survive in a fantasy world that does not care where you came from. The game is sandbox focused with a strong overarching narrative. You will have real freedom to explore, investigate, ignore obvious plot hooks, or chase rumors across the map. That said, once the campaign reaches its later acts, the story will naturally tighten as consequences catch up and long running threads come due. This game is best for players who enjoy roleplay, character growth, and letting the story emerge naturally. Combat is meaningful and dangerous, but it is not constant. Expect a balance of exploration, social encounters, and high stakes moments where your decisions matter long term.

About me

I am a 32-years-old, Everyone calls me V-vo and I have always loved fantasy. When I was a kid I read the legend of Drizzt books and didn't even know then that it was all related to dungeons and dragons until way later in life. In the last few years, I have completely fallen for D&D, ever since I saw the very first session of Critical Role. I enjoy running games and creating a fun experience for my players. I do all that I can to create the best experience for all my players and to deliver a great engrossing story for them to explore. How I run the game The aim of the game is for all involved to have fun. This never comes at the expense of someone else’s, so my main focus point when running the game will always be to ensure everyone leaves at the end of a session feeling satisfied. I usually communicate with players between sessions, to judge the feeling for the campaign, and to gather feedback etc. The rule of cool I am a firm believer in the rule of cool and generally quite relaxed and open about going slightly outside the book rules. However, the rule of thumb is to assume the book rules take president unless we have spoken and agreed otherwise. “I follow the rules when they make sense, sometimes rules are made to be broken”.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be created either before Session 1 or during a dedicated Session 0, depending on group preference. You will create a real world version of yourself or an original modern character. From there, we’ll work together to translate that person into a D&D character once they arrive in the Forgotten Realms. Ability scores, class, and background will reflect how your character adapts to the world, not just a preset fantasy trope. All character options must come from official D&D 5e content available on D&D Beyond. No third party or homebrew classes or races. If you’re unsure about an option, just ask. I’m very open to collaboration and want your character to feel right. Starting Level: 3

What Vvo brings to the table

I run character driven games with a strong focus on immersion. Expect NPC voices, ambient music, detailed maps, and meaningful choices. Combat is tactical when it matters, but roleplay and creative solutions are always encouraged. I follow the rules, but I value fun and story first. Clever ideas, good roleplay, and player agency matter more than perfect optimization. Party balance is never required. Play what excites you. Players will have full access to campaign materials, maps, handouts, and character options through Foundry and D&D Beyond.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion is a bonus action Rule of Cool is applied when it makes sense and does not break the game Any additional rulings will always be explained clearly and applied consistently.

Safety

How Vvo creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are a priority at my table. As a behavioral therapist, I’m trained to recognize boundaries, emotional cues, and group dynamics, and I bring that same awareness into my games. Before play begins, expectations, themes, and boundaries are clearly discussed so everyone knows what kind of content may come up and what is off limits. Players are always encouraged to communicate concerns, either openly or privately, and I take those concerns seriously and without judgment. During play, I actively monitor table dynamics and player reactions. If a scene becomes uncomfortable or crosses a line, I will pause, redirect, or adjust the content immediately. No one is ever pressured to roleplay something they are not comfortable with, and stepping away or changing scenes is always an option. I foster a respectful, inclusive environment where players feel safe to express themselves, make mistakes, and enjoy the game. The goal is for everyone to feel supported, heard, and comfortable while still telling meaningful, engaging stories together.
