Obojima: Footsteps of the First Age
The colorful western wilds of Obojima are fading—flowers dull, creatures act strangely, and rangers return muttering about “roots that whisper.”

About the adventure
The peaceful island of Obojima is safe haven full of mysteries and whimsical experiences. Living centuries past the "first age", explore and interact ancient ruins, 80's style tech, and fight the mysterious corruption plaguing the eastern part of the island. This is a high roleplay and exploration campaign. Combat will also be present. Many areas of the island are safe, but there are regions such as the eastern island and ruins beneath the island which are more dangerous. This gives the players the ability to pace the game and tailor to what the group is wanting to do. As a DM I engage with what the table wants, what is most fun for everyone, and let the actions of the players tell the story. I run RAW but also enjoy using rule of cool when it fits and doesn't wreck the narrative.

About me
Hello! I'm Ben and I love running Tabletop Roleplaying games. I've been running games since 2020 and have never looked back! Currently I run multiple professional games for Start Playing Games! I provide a fun and inclusive environment for my players and would love to help deliver an enjoyable table experience for you! I run multiple systems, so let me know if you have any requests!

Creating your character
Players should make their character using D&D Beyond, starting with a level 1 character. If joining later, the DM will let you know what level of character to make. If playing a caster, there is a list of spells which are not in this setting. I highly encourage taking subclass, feats, backgrounds, spells from the Obojima setting, as this will help with the feel of the campaign.

What Ben brings to the table
I provide game content, extra sources, my time in and outside of game, and over three years of professional GM experiences. I have already purchased multiple sources to supplement this adventure. I have also homebrewed extra factions, as well. I try to embody the NPC's I play to make them feel distinct and to give them purpose within the story. In combat I am willing to do rule of cool, within reason and work with my players to help them succeed! In exploration I want to drive the story forward and give plays clues and opportunities to make choices that impact the game. You can expect from me, friendly GMing, fair rulings, and a table open to discussion about the rules/interpretation of rules. I try to bring some balance of the three pillars of roleplaying games (roleplaying, exploration, combat) and scale that to the adventure being played. If you're looking for a fun table with fun rulings, this is the table for you!
Homebrew rules
I use critfail tables for attacks, as well as separate magical crifail tables. I also allow for critical hits on attacks (double dice rolled or rolled value). While not homebrewed, there are some interesting concepts/optional rules in Obojima, as well.

Safety
How Ben creates a safe table
We will have an initial meeting before the first session and I will reach out to players individually, as well. Safety at the table starts at trust and I want to ensure that each player feels comfortable. I want to work to build the kind of professional GM relationship with my players where they feel confident coming to me if there is an issue and comfortable at the table, if a problem arises. We will also go over safety tools at initial session. I am also open to discussing other safety tools players would like to use.
