About the adventure

In this campaign you will command your own spelljammer vessel, charting routes through wildspace in an attempt to tackle an ancient evil that has reawoken. From bustling astral ports to forgotten planetoids crawling with danger, every destination offers new allies, enemies, and discoveries in this homebrew setting. Along the way, you’ll encounter the powerful factions of the Cosmo Consortium, an interstellar coalition whose ambitions stretch across the stars. From the Pioneer Patrollers who serve as a quasi-military presence, to the Meister Minds who are on the cutting edge of science and technology, each faction serves a diverse role in forging the future of the Twixt. Whether you choose to work with them, oppose them, or exploit the chaos between their rival interests is entirely up to your crew. Expect a campaign filled with: ➤ Spelljammer ship travel and starfaring exploration ➤ Lore-rich worlds with unique cultures, creatures, and mysteries ➤ Epic battles in space and on distant planets ➤ Player-driven choices that shape the fate of the Twixt Plane ➤ Custom mechanics such as downtime crafting between planetary travel, and meta-currency used to upgrade your gear along with your pc's This planet-spanning odyssey will take characters from Level 3 to 10+, using the D&D 5.5e ruleset. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or new to Spelljammer, prepare to gather your crew, hoist the jammer-sails, and see just how far into the stars you're willing to go. About me

Hey there, adventurer! I'm Jason, aka Gawd Mode, and I’ve been crafting unforgettable tabletop experiences as a GM for over a decade. My journey with StartPlaying began in 2022. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of building epic, immersive stories alongside incredible players. Player immersion and agency is my top priority, I make sure every character has a meaningful place in the world we build together. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or brand new to a game, I’ll help find every way to weave your backstory seamlessly into the overarching narrative. I believe that every session should be fun, memorable, and full of moments worth sharing years down the line. If you’re looking for a GM who blends storytelling, dynamic encounters, and a touch of homebrew flair, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s roll some dice and create something legendary! Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be discussed via Discord during Session 0. Players will be creating a character starting at level 3 using any of the official material available from places such as D&DBeyond. Homebrew options potentially allowed. Expect your characters to grow to level 10, with potential to go further provided everyone is on board. Once created I will ask for either a link or pdf to your character sheet before our first official game session.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

All players require a clear working mic and a stable internet connection. Video is not necessary but always appreciated (it's nice to see the faces of the people you're talking to). All players should have a basic understanding of the rules (Basic 5th edition rules can be found online for free), and I will do my best to assist when questions arise. Roll20 as well as Discord account (both free) are necessary. Familiarity with Roll20 encouraged but not required.

What Gawd Mode brings to the table

We will be largely using Roll20, expect high quality maps for both exploration and combat as well as plenty of music/ambience to help build the mood. Access to rulebooks and content provided when needed. Players will receive a digital version of the Wyrd N' Wyld campaign guide to familiarize themselves with our homebrew plane.

Homebrew rules

Session Recap - At the beginning of every session players roll a d20, with the lowest roll having to retell the events of the previous session as succinctly as possible. They are rewarded with wyrdbits afterwards. If you gave the recap last session, you may choose not to roll the next session. Inspiration Cards - Players draw a card from the Inspiration deck at the beginning of each session if they did not already have one. Trading between players is allowed but must be done before the session begins, at which point they can no longer trade. A player cannot have more than 1 Inspiration card at a time. Luck Cards - When a player rolls a natural 20 on any meaningful d20 roll, they may draw a good luck card (blue) from the deck. They can then keep hold of this card until they wish to use it. A player can only have one good luck card at any time. At the end of the session, all good luck cards are discarded. Wyrdbits - These odd, condensed fragments of alien material can be found throughout the Twixt, given as quest rewards and received in other ways. Players can use these to exchange them for gold, gain temporary buffs, enchant their equipment and more. More details to follow once the campaign kicks off. Helper’s Hand Guild - Need an extra hand during your adventure? Maybe you’re missing some extra heals, or someone who could help provide the cover of stealth. No matter what your needs, the Helpers’ Hand Guild can assist with its services. Found on many planetoids throughout the Twixt, this joint group formed by both the Serenitels and Bastion can offer several ‘low impact’ npc’s that can give your characters features or access to certain spells they may not typically get!

How Gawd Mode creates a safe table

Expect a fairly laid back wacky Spelljammer D&D experience set in a homebrew plane. We will be using a few homebrew mechanics on top of the standard D&D 5e rules system. I love to bring player actions to life, even during combat to help weave imagery in our minds. I tend to be pretty laid back in terms of allowing players to engage with the world however they wish, provided it does not impede on the fun of others at the virtual table. Will try to stick to the Rules as Written when possible, but plenty of opportunities to use the Rule of Cool. PC romance between NPC's is allowed with a fade-to-black principle for any hard romance scenes. PC romance between PC's is typically not encouraged unless discussed beforehand and both parties consent. Evil characters are not encouraged but allowed provided they do not directly hinder the party. If necessary, expect post session private chats to discuss player feelings and iron out any issues during the session. If I notice a player issue I will speak with them privately to work it out, but will not hesitate in removing that person if they continue to be a problem for the table. Ensuring a welcoming, fun and positive atmosphere is an absolute must for my players. My door is always open, and if a player is having an issue is welcome to reach out privately to discuss things. During Session 0 we will introduce ourselves, discuss the expectations and general rules of the game along with potential homebrew options, share information about the homebrew plane and begin to build your characters. We will start at level 3, with any official race/class option available, as well as homebrew options provided I give the okay. We will also use this time to discuss the intro to the campaign story to build player buy-in and help everyone plot out your own character backgrounds + potential story threads you'd like to see in the future for your character. Content warnings will be discussed during this session, expect the normal range found in most high fantasy worlds.
