About the adventure

Even if you come out of the Gray with your mind and limbs intact, you’re still going to starve. You need salvage to earn your bread and water. Mere survival isn’t a goal, it’s a punishment. —Willton Scree, halfling scavenger (deceased) The first in an ongoing, popular series of connected adventures written for Adventurers' League D&D, "The Night Land" introduces players to the devastated remains of the nation of Cyre, hit hard by the events of the Day of Mourning during the Last War. Players will take on the role of scavenergs, scrounging for salvage across the scorched territory now knows the Mournland. The adventure will walk through the players through daily struggles of these survivors, culminating with a thrilling confrontation with the enigmatic Order of the Emerald Claw. This is an adventure for 1st level players, taking about 3 hours to complete. The adventure has been adapted for the Pathfinder 2E system, an ideal choice for Eberron with its extensive options for "magitech" themed characters.

About me

Greetings, adventurers. My name is George, and I have been immersing myself in TTRPGs since around 2001. My journey into the realm of Game Mastering took a serious turn with the release of Pathfinder. My background in theatre, history, and education has been instrumental in shaping my GM style, which emphasizes dramatic conflict, challenging decisions, and character development. I’ve had the pleasure of engaging with a diverse and international player population, both online and in person. This experience has enriched my understanding of the game and its global appeal. The games I run are primarily drawn from official Paizo publications for Pathfinder, supplemented by key resources from publishers like Kobold Press and Sly Flourish. In each campaign, I make it a point to engage with the player characters’ backgrounds. This begins with a session zero where we collaboratively create characters that align with the theme of the campaign. Each campaign I run is a unique world unto itself. I strive to create a distinctive and consistent atmosphere for each one, whether it’s the dark and grim tone of a horror campaign or the epic battles of a high fantasy adventure. Some campaigns may include unique mechanics tailored to their theme. My games, even when played remotely online, aim to emulate the feel of a traditional tabletop experience as much as possible. I prefer to keep technology from overwhelming the gameplay, allowing us to focus on the human elements of the game - the people around our virtual table. I am always available to answer questions through this site. If you have any doubts before signing up for a session, please contact me. I am always eager to hear from established parties who are looking for a new GM. Whether you have already been gaming together, or you are a group of friends, coworkers, or a family group, I would love to embark on an adventure with you. I am also open to requests from existing/ongoing groups for a specific campaign for your party. Whether you have a published module in mind or just an idea that you’d like to develop, I’m here to help you play the game you want to play! Remember, the essence of tabletop gaming is to have fun and create memorable stories together. Let’s roll the dice!

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will be given to a selction of premade 1st level characters, with themes and options that have been curated to bring the flavour of Eberon into Pathfinder 2E. Character options from "Guns & Gears" will feature prominently.

The current party

A range of Eberron-themed premade 1st level characters will be available, so that we can get straight into the action! First come first served!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A good quality microphone (preferably a headset) is required to use Discord. I also strongly encourage players to use video during games. Games using video conferencing are usually more enjoyable for all parties, as video prevents misunderstandings and miscommunication. In addition you will need (free) accounts for Discord and for Forge (the website hosting our Foundry VTT game), and you might want to download the Discord client. Please test your sound (and video, if applicable) before game time. All game materials (handouts, character sheets, maps, tokens) will be available through Foundry and Discord.

What George brings to the table

I will provide all necessary game materials (dice, maps, character sheets, etc.) through Foundry VTT. You do not need any other supplies or material to play.

Safety

How George creates a safe table

This is a fast-paced adventure, rewarding quick thinking and action-oriented play. It tries to introduce a lot of aspects of the world of Eberron, but through interaction rather than exposition. Players interested in lore will hopefully enjoy this approach as much as players interested in action. This adventure, and the entire series of adventures that it is part of, deal with issues of war, survival, and trauma. They tend to be grittier than typical fantasy adventures, without being grim. Please feel free to speak out at any time if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe about any of the events or descriptions used in the game. We will deal with such issues out of characters to ensure that everybody is able to participate in the session. Any language or behaviour that prevents other players from enjoying the game will not be tolerated.
