About the adventure
This is a limited first run of a cozy, story-focused mini-campaign. Welcome to Bramblewood, a storybook village steeped in autumn magic, haunted memories, and rising resentment toward witchcraft. You are a newly formed coven that has inherited a potion shop. But along with it comes the responsibility of saving the village and restoring its former community. This adventure blends cosy fantasy, mystery, and whimsical danger, with a strong emphasis on role-playing, problem-solving, and community-building. You spend your mornings brewing potions and helping quirky villagers, while your afternoons are filled with restoring the potion shop, investigations, rumours, and maybe even encounters with mischievous spirits. Combat can exist, but this adventure is not about big tactical battlefields. Many encounters can be resolved through creativity, empathy, ritual, or clever use of magic. As a witch of the coven, you will gain a unique witch role and a matching familiar. This will shape how you interact with the world and each other. Your choices directly affect the village’s morale and the success of the upcoming Ember Moon festival. This game is ideal for players who enjoy narrative play, found family and magical slice-of-life vibes. Beginners and newer players are welcome, and experienced players will find plenty of room for character-driven storytelling and inventive solutions.

About me
Hi! I’m Susann, a DM who first and foremost believes the best stories are the ones we build together. I’ve been DMing D&D 5e (2024) for about a year now and while I love a good plot twist as much as anyone, my true joy comes from facilitating stories rather than writing them. My goal is simple: portray the world that reacts to your choices, celebrates your chaos and gives your characters the adventures they deserve. In my in-person home game my PCs are exploring Gullet Cove as awakened animals (Animal Adventure Campaign Setting from Steamforge Games) and are facing all types of different challenges from evil Rat Kings looking to overthrow the city to trying to establish a downline in a very lucrative triangle of trust. You might have the pleasure of seeing one of my pets in the background of my webcam (yes, I like play with video on). I have two cats - who both only have one eye - and one very elderly dog. I work full time and have two young kids. I am not looking to run multiple campaigns - simply because I do not have the time for that. So I will put my heart and soul into the campaign that I get to run.

Creating your character
Characters begin at Level 4, using official D&D 5e 2024 material on DnD Beyond. In addition to standard character options, each player will choose a witch type and a familiar unique to this adventure. We will create characters together in Session 0. Stats will be point buy or standard array. We will use point buy or standard array, whichever you prefer. No prior knowledge of the setting is required. Material available in the campaign via content sharing: PHB 2024 The Wild Beyond the Witchlight (2024 homebrew of backgrounds and species) Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn Lorwyn: First Light Eberron: Forge of the Artificer One-Shot Wonders: Holiday Adventure Pack Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything / Xanathar's Guide to Everything (if needed because not updated in PHB 2024)

What Susann brings to the table
As your GM, I bring a collaborative and story-forward experience that celebrates your choices and supports great moments. I am not a voice actor, but I aim to craft NPCs with warmth and personality, giving you villagers to befriend, frustrate, or adopt. My goal is simple: a fun, chill, and supportive table where we build something memorable together. Ideally, lots of warm moments at the potion shop and some delightful chaos that only coven-mates can cause. I generally stick to the Rules as Written to keep things fair and clear, but I’m always open to the Rule of Cool when it adds to the story and the moment feels right. Sessions are collaborative and curiosity-driven. I love when players surprise me and we discover the story together. My webcam will be on, and I strongly encourage players to have theirs on as well. It really helps with roleplay. Sessions are run on Discord, and I use a transcription bot so that I can provide useful summaries of sessions, memorable quotes and some fun achievements.
Homebrew rules
We are playing DnD 5e (2024 rules) Nat 1 / Nat 20: A Natural 1 is a failure, no matter the modifier. A Natural 20 is the best possible outcome, not a guaranteed success. Crunchy Crits: When you crit, roll your normal damage die, add the maximum value of that die, then add your modifiers.

How Susann creates a safe table
We will use Pause a Minute during the games and Lines and Veils will be filled out before Session 0 and outlined during Session 0. After each session, I'd like to do a quick stars and wishes - these can be done anonymously. I like using them to make sure you're getting the most out of the game. Pause a Minute: It lets players halt gameplay anytime. Say it aloud - or enter PAM in chat a DM to me to trigger a brief timeout. The group pauses briefly, then regroups after a quick check-in. You could use this when: Something in the game feels uncomfortable A subject appeared unexpectedly You need clarification Tension around the table seems too intense You just need a minute to take a breath
