About the adventure
Welcome to a dark gothic campaign that uses system that I created called "War by Week" The downtime between sessions will count as 1 week of in game time where factions will take actions determined by a rolling table I made such as laying siege to settlements or fortresses to espionage collecting information on other factions. This world will be everchanging week by week but not only do factions get to take actions but so do you! Each week you will be provided an action sheet that you can spend action points to work towards goals such as improving your character by working towards getting new feats or specializations from NPCs that are hand built for the direction you want to take your character. You also can improve faction relations between weeks as well as in game to provide extra action points and better success rates not only for the party but for the factions as well. The world will be heavily impacted by the actions the party takes as each week the vampires come closer and closer to taking over the continent. Your mission is to hunt down the commanders who are leading the vampire armies and dispose of them to weaken the crimson thrones armies and cut deep enough to lay siege to the dark castle that these horrors are pouring from and put an end to the invasion. Each commander having a specialty that provides certain bonuses to the faction you get to see the impact that dealing with each commander has as the faction grows weaker and more desperate as their ranks fall. Recruit factions and helpful NPCs to organize and build a defense force to push back the invasion as well as a steady stream of intel to easier locate your targets. Player agency is a huge deal for me and this game is made to provide moments for the players to have large impacts to the world and the story while deeply exploring their characters own personal goals while working to save the world. That being said this is a war and failure will be common and possibly devastating. The party can't be every at once and the horrors will not wait around for the party to show up. Settlements will be lost, fortresses will fall, people will die. It is up to the party to strategize on what they are willing to sacrifice to gain a foothold in the war and push back the enemy.

About me
I am an easy-going fantasy lover of all genres especially horror, I have only been a GM for over a year and have run a handful of one shots both pre-written and homebrew modules as well as a pre-written campaigns and an ongoing homebrew one as well. My experience lies within 2014 5e for D&D, but I am familiar with the 2024 rules as well and have no issues with using some rules from 2024 for 2014 and vice versa. I have been playing D&D for a few years but have been interested and learning about it all my life. I just never had an opportunity to play until the last couple years and would love to provide the ability for players to take part in an amazing game and even get new players who are in the same situation I was to experience D&D for the first time! I mostly run homebrewed settings and take a lot of pride in the games I create for players. One of my favorite parts about D&D and tabletop games as a whole is providing a story for players to evolve and make their own. I absolutely love watching my players come up with creative solutions to encounters and fully embrace my settings and stories being heavily influenced by player actions. I create games and worlds where player choice and actions really matter and heavily impact how the story plays out and enjoy mixing roleplay focused and combat focused encounters that influences the story as a whole. I also focus on player fun first and will tweak the game to fit each players priority and narrative wants from player feedback!

Creating your character
Character creation will be completed through D&D beyond; Once you book a seat a link will be provided to the campaign page on D&D Beyond. I will be running a free session zero and will assist and walk through the character creation process as well as providing the content needed for character creation. Starting level will be level 4 and end with level 12. I use rolling for stats using the 4d6 method and dropping the lowest number, but I also allow rerolling 1s.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The only things you will need are a free D&D Beyond account and a discord account! The link to the Discord server will be provided once you book!
What Dylan brings to the table
I do light character voice work, but my main focus is building an immersive experience using soundscapes and ambient music to really help set the mood and scenes. I run intense combat encounters and heavily embrace the rules of cool as I love seeing you as a player come up with creative fun solutions to situations. I also focus on providing a world that can be heavily influenced by player action. I will also provide the VTT experience running it through my end using Tale Spire, so it is not needed for play! I will work to provide an unforgettable and immersive experience for you and the rest of the players at the table.
Homebrew rules
The two homebrew rules I use for this one shot is that drinking a potion is a bonus action and switching weapons does not take an action.

How Dylan creates a safe table
I will send you the Lines and Veils document before session 0. I will also cover any relevant setting information and mood of the game in session 0 and explain how we will handle aftercare. I use the X, N, and O system through digital and vocal method. There will be one 15–20-minute brake around the middle point of the session to let everyone get a stretch in and take a step away from the game for a moment as well as a quick check in with all the players to see how everyone is feeling up to that point!
