About the adventure

Shorshana and Maiacera, twin worlds of dawn and dusk, Beauty and Illusion. Linked intimately as long as anyone living there can remember, you can travel from one to the other easily--but nowhere else. Legends say there are other worlds surrounding the Sun, but you can't see them. In fact, the Sun herself is veiled by some vast working of magic in both worlds' skies. But that's life here. Shorshana has plenty to make up for never seeing the stars, including idyllic scenery and a charmed existence. Despite all of the advantages, though, something's wrong. You're on a mission from Granny Hexsticks, a Tortle wise woman known for wandering the beautiful beaches of the worlds, handing out stews and potions from her cauldron and occasionally sending hapless adventurers on quests for her. She's asked you to check on the conflict between the Anarch of Rot and Bloom's underground fungal forces marching on the surface and the druid circles of the Lord of Horn and Thorn defending life above. Will you take up the task? And why is the Duke of Bone and Coin sending his skeletal servants to interfere? This game has recently transitioned from Daggerheart to Fate Accelerated play-by-post, with an expected contribution of 7-15 posts per week. The story is ongoing and new players will be joining an existing party. Fate Accelerated is a low-mechanics system and easy for players new to it to pick up.

About me

I've been running games around the table since 2010! I have lots of experience running games on Discord, live streaming on Twitch, and playing in text chats. I love creating spaces where people can really express themselves and explore what makes collective storytelling powerful, while having tools to stay safe and sane doing it. :) I am nonbinary and queer, and often incorporate these themes into play. I intend to have a welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ players and those who support and ally with them.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players should make a character before joining the game, using the basic rules here: https://fate-srd.com/fate-accelerated/who-do-you-want-be , including two major milestones. Please feel free to ask me for help or inspiration! You can use either the form-fillable PDF here: https://evilhat.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Fate-Accelerated-Character-Sheet-Formfillable.pdf or an online character keeper here: https://fatecharactersheet.com/charactersheet/fate-accelerated . Characters should follow the rough tropes of D&D or Daggerheart fantasy, but there's a fair bit of leeway. New characters will need GM approval before joining.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please read through the Fate Accelerated rules here: https://fate-srd.com/fate-accelerated/get-started You will need a Discord account to play.

What Nora K.B. brings to the table

Play will happen in a private Discord forum, written prose style in the present tense. Players are expected to post daily. The GM may occasionally use visual aids or Owlbear Rodeo to set up combat or tactical situations. Players are also free to socialize in the common spaces on the server and join in group hangouts in public voice channels.

Safety

How Nora K.B. creates a safe table

The game has existing Lines and Veils, which new players will be expected to read and contribute to. This game has a separate out of character channel in which safety discussions are welcome. We will hold on lightly to the narrative, with the option to delete posts and rework things people find problematic, triggering, or just want to avoid.
