Meet the Game Master
About me
“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.” -Philip Pullman Hello! Thank you for stopping by. I am Jason, and I have been a passionate participant in the TTRPG scene for as long as I can remember. I've run and played in countless games over the years, from my very first taste of Dungeonmastering with Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition, to mastering my friend Pan Whitesell's homebrewed system, to running Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e. I was delighted to learn that my fencing coach was a Rifts GM, and subsequently dipped my toe into the expanding world of TTRPGs beyond D&D. I've tried Fate, Mouse Guard RPG, Kids on Brooms, Pathfinder, and more, and have most recently found myself returning to my roots with Dungeons and Dragons 5th (now 5.5th!) edition. As an enthusiastic Dungeonmaster with over two decades of experience, it is a philosophy of both fun and self-expression that drives me to craft the settings and narratives my players experience and share. TTRPGs are more than just a game; they are a means of exploring the heroes within ourselves. They are adventures of camaraderie and found family, of danger and sacrifice, of triumph and daring, all at a table with like-minded companions. Everyone has a story to tell, and TTRPGs help Dungeonmasters like myself facilitate that story. That's what I love the most about what I do. I bear the torch of narrator, supporting actor, monster, and villain, and I do it with delight and pride because it gives my players the chance to discover and weave their tales into a shared storytelling experience. My table welcomes all players, from novice dreamers to veteran heroes, to band together in the spirit of adventure and share their stories with one another. I believe that TTRPGs should be a haven for those who seek it, a place of creativity, inclusivity, and compassion. So, I invite you to join me! Look inside yourself and dare to wonder: what stories do you have to tell?

Creating your character
Character creation will take place in Session 0 and players will begin the adventure at level one. We will be using D&D 5e rules, but whatever 2024 materials are currently available will override the 2014 sources. Character race, class, and background options currently available in the Player's Handbook 2024, The Crooked Moon source materials, Valda's Spire of Secrets and the Valda's Spire of Secrets Gunslinger expansion are encouraged, and all these materials will be shared through DND Beyond. Additional and alternative character options are welcome pending discussion and review!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need: -Discord account (free!) -DNDBeyond account (also free!) -Working microphone -Headphones/Earphones (ideally also working) -Webcam is encouraged, but not required! I also encourage anyone interested in this game to think about their characters beforehand! You don't need to have a character fully created, but consider: Who are they? Why are they an adventurer? Where are they from? What goals do they have? I'll be happy to work with you to develop your character so you can truly bring them to life. You may reach out to me with questions at any time once you've signed up!

How DM Sablemane creates a safe table
As previously stated, my table will be a safe place for everyone to engage in expressive and creative gameplay. Bigotry or harassment in any form is not tolerated. Please be respectful to one another! Players who prove themselves to be incapable of this will be removed. I believe strongly in integrated gameplay and collaborative worldbuilding, but first and foremost: this is a game, and therefore it should be fun! I accommodate varied gameplay preferences with a satisfying blend of roleplay, combat, and puzzle-solving.
