Creating your character

🔸 Each player will start by deciding on a Level 1 character. 🔹 It is optional for players to have their characters prepared beforehand, as instructions and guidance will be shared on our Discord channel. 🔸 Players will delve into choosing races, classes, and backgrounds that shape their character's story, abilities, and alignment. 🔹 Special attention will be given to the character's unique traits, such as their name, appearance, and personal goals, which will be discussed during and before our first session.

Preparing for the session

1️⃣ Discord Account Ready Make sure you have a Discord account and the app installed on your preferred device (mobile and/or desktop). 2️⃣ Join the Campaign Server You will receive a private invite link after acceptance. Please read the Welcome and Rules channels when you arrive. 3️⃣ Create Your Character • Bring a concept that fits gothic horror and personal flaws worth exploiting. 4️⃣ Profile & Posting Setup • Set your display name to Character Name | Player Name • Optional: Choose a character portrait for your profile or text embeds • Review the formatting guide for in-character and out-of-character posts 5️⃣ Review Player Responsibilities • Aim for steady posting (several times per week) • Communicate if you need to step away • Respect tone and shared story pacing 6️⃣ Read the Safety Tools & Boundaries We will use clearly outlined consent lines and veils. Horror is welcome. Harmful surprises to players are not. 7️⃣ Bring a Willingness to Collaborate This is a story told through writing. Your presence, creativity, and communication keep the world alive.

What Moses brings to the table

My Discord server has a dedicated group of players and mods ready to help. I have all content on D&D Beyond for players to use at any time. All of my games are POC, LGBT+, and Neurodivergent friendly. Players must be 18+ as game content may not be suitable for minors.

Homebrew rules

This game is listed with a scheduled time on StartPlaying for advertising and billing purposes only. There are no live sessions to attend. Instead, this is a fully asynchronous Play-by-Post campaign on Discord: • You write your character’s actions and dialogue through text posts • You participate on your own schedule throughout the week • The story progresses as players post and respond • No need to match time zones or be online together It functions like a collaborative gothic horror novel — each player’s posts move the adventure forward. The scheduled listing simply ensures SPG can track session dates and process payments reliably. Your real play time happens whenever you choose to step into the mists.

How Moses creates a safe table

Themes such as violence, psychological elements, and mature content may be present but will be tailored to your comfort levels. Certain subjects like sexual assault, harm to children, and harm to domestic animals will never be explicitly described in our games. During our first session, we'll discuss safety tools and content preferences. I adhere to a strict policy against discrimination (sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.) and aim to create a respectful and safe environment for all players.
