Creating your character

We will create character together during session 0. If you missed the date for session 0, you may either create a character by yourself, or I will organize an extra meeting to aid you for no extra charge. Session 0 will allow players to connect their characters to the big picture, rather than each player being an island alone. We will be able to discuss aspirations, collective goals, and set expectations for both player and GM. If you are creating a character on your own, please exclusively use content published in the Draw Steel Heroes book.

Preparing for the session

You will need a microphone, a discord account, and a stable internet connection to participate. A webcam is not required, but you may use one at your own discretion. After joining, you will receive an automatic message with a link to my Discord server and a Player Safety Survey. This survey will not ask for any personal information other than your name and StartPlaying username. You can also find this information in the "Prep Materials" Section on Startplaying. Please have a level-appropriate character ready at least an hour before session begins.

What Jimothy brings to the table

Everything required for this game will be provided to you at no extra costs, including but not limited to: - Core Rulebooks - Discord Server - Custom Digital Miniatures I use FoundryVTT for combat, die rolls, soundscapes, and visual aids. It features many tools that make play easier by automating calculations and turn orders. Foundry is a self-hosted system, completely prepared and customized by me. Players don't need to create an account to play! Foundry will only be accessible to players on the day of the game, so I recommend that players use Forge Steel to create and store digital character sheets. My style has been described as fluid and learning-focused, keeping the game flowing with rulings rather than stumbling over hard rules. I love introducing new players to the hobby, and I hope to bring a fresh new experience to both newcomer and veteran alike.

How Jimothy creates a safe table

You must be 18 years or older to sign up. Any player discovered to be under the age of 18 will be removed from the game without refund and reported for breaking StartPlaying terms of service. After sign-up, you will be given an automatic message with a link to a "Player Safety and On-Boarding" form. This form will not ask for any personal information other than your name. All sessions will be recorded for notetaking and security purposes. Any incidents will be reported to StartPlaying with video evidence. There will be absolutely no mention of sexual assault and rape. Other potentially traumatic themes will be excluded from the table at the request of the players' and the GM's discretion. Transphobia, racism, ableism, sexism, or homophobia will not be tolerated. Players expressing bigotry will be removed from the game and reported to StartPlaying. Before the campaign begins, there will be a free Session Zero for character creation and safety information. We will review Content Warnings, Lines & Veils, and Stars & Wishes.
