Reviews I've given (1)
I've been playing in a personal 5e game with Jaiden as a GM for about a year now. Her number one priority is fun for everybody at the table, and at the same time, properly interpreting rules as written and intuiting rules as intended. She doesn't compromise the difficulty of the game, but she guides the game in a direction that is tailored to our groups wants and needs. We don't all optimize as players, but we do like to occasionally talk strategy in a fight where we find ourselves in a bind. I feel like other GMs would get on our group for 'minmaxxing' or 'metagaming,' but Jaiden understands that this is what fun at our table looks like. She'll find what fun is for your table, too. This is what makes Jaiden special and worth your hard earned money; GMs often fall flat because they don't maintain equal focus between their own intention, the foundation of the game, and player feedback. I can't blame them, because it's hard to give all three of these the proper level of focus. Jaiden handles this balancing act at a level I've never seen. She remains true to the game by making hard rulings, comfortably and reasonably saying 'no.' She remains true to herself by infusing the game with her own inspiration and throwing creative obstacles and curve balls at our characters. Most of all, though, she reads the energy that she gets from the table and intuits what she needs to do for you to have fun, because the game is nothing if everyone isn't enjoying it. I imagine she might read this review and be somewhat concerned that I'm setting your expectation for her too high, so I'll remind you that she is a human being and that you should expect the occassional human error that comes with that. There has been a session or two since the game started where we had to have a discussion about what went wrong. Don't be put off, though; this is another area where she shines. So many GMs will ignore their failures or even deflect responsibility. She, though, will gather everyone's insight, dissect what went wrong, and use that knowledge not only to make sure it doesn't happen again, but to make her game better along with her GMing skill and instinct. All this is to say, you should totally give my friend your money so that you can experience what I have. The story she'll weave with you will be priceless.
